Oregon Ducks recruiting nationally

Let's also not forget about countless times Duck fans have entered into a thread about the Beavers without prior mention of the Ducks only to troll.

ESPN has a poll up that asks people to pick the most powerful 40 teams. Given the small population of Oregon and the prestige of other programs, after over 100k votes, Oregon is #12, voted higher than Tennessee, Miami, Notre Dame, Auburn, Nebraska and many other pretty strong programs. Oregon football has come a long, long way. It also depicts the difference in national opinion about Oregon and Oregon State even though they've had similar records of late.

Considering how terrible Oregon State has played in "big" OOC games, it's no surprise why Oregon is ranked higher in that poll.

...it appears that another coach, just 45 minutes to the North, has no problem whatsoever in maximizing his "limited" D1 talent :dunno:

i'm an OSU alumn myself, but uhh... last time i checked our stars, the Rodgers brothers are good ole' boys from Texas...

while I'm not going to be roped into trash talk, and I respect everything Riley does has done. Until Riley gets OSU into the National championship mix a couple times, or even one time, Bellotti has done more for U of O than Riley has OSU. I think your goals are a little lower than what Bellotti's and Kelly's might be. But each to their own.

that is trash talking...

how so? I respect what Riley does, but he hasnt been in contention for a NC game multiple times. And the other part was about how he seemed to be happy with those finishes.

One could hypothetically argue that it was his team that was in contention for a National Title in 2000.

Thats why I left myself the loophole and said Multiple times

I think it is safe to say Oregon has a better chance to make a jump to the top tier than Oregon St. I don't think it's a knock on Oregon St, I just think it's a reflection of the national impression, the amount of money donated to the universities, and the facilities.

It's hard to knock a guy like Riley, given what he has done with the talent they get. Just like it's hard to knock what Oregon fans have seen from Chip in the past two years.

Oregon State has their coaches going for them. Just incredible coaches in Football and BBall.

And yes HAAK, I remember the avatar. I gave you props on it. But you peaced out after that, not to be heard from on the Blazer forum for a while (I think you occasionally stayed on the OT forum).

...should I be getting a restraining order :dunno:

this thread stayed on topic thanks

Except he didn't coach that team, and Chad Johnson wasn't his recruit.

That's true. My point was that the overwhelming majority of that team were his recruits (Smith, Simonton, the two Presidents (although they may have been JC too), etc.)
