Oregon House Bill 3200

You do understand how bills work, right? They actually have to be passed. There has been thousands of bills out there proposed. Doesn't mean its got a chance of happening.
But it does mean that they're trying to do it.

Whats the point of getting so heated about it to call Democrats 'boneheads' and 'condescending jerkoffs'. Seriously, that's a lot of anger and hate for a bill proposed by some kind of loonies that probably doesn't have much backing even by super liberal Democrats.

Then to mention Doomsday type shit and why you need your guns for when people want to come for your family? Come on. Seriously.

I didn't say any of that. In regards to doomsday, would you question someone that stocks water and food in case of disaster?

I feel like some Republican's need to lay off the Rush Limbaugh, Lars Larson, etc. kool-aid.

and.....

Why get worked up about something that has zero chance of being passed?

Because getting worked up AFTER it passes doesn't do much good, does it?

Did you follow all the internet piracy and privacy shit that congress was trying to pass? CISPA and that other one.... anyway..... peopled raged and it failed. If you wait until after the fact, it might be too late.

But did you see their definition of "assault weapon"?

It's literally anything that's semi-automatic. That's fucking ridiculous. I get it, most people don't agree with M4/AR-15 variants being owned by the public. The thing is, they constitute such a minuscule portion of crimes committed, and their only real purpose WOULD be to defend ourselves against the government. That's it. That's the only reason to own one, but I personally think it's a very good fucking reason.

I have one rifle. A .22 semi-automatic that holds 18 rounds. I got it when I was 15 to shoot rabbits off of my grandparents' property, and it hasn't been fired in almost 20 years. Yet this is considered an "assault weapon".

Sorry, but that one is Bush's fault.

Obviously it was made for the battle field.

What concerns me most is how some people just seem willing to allow their "leaders" to have weapons that aren't available to the general public. One would think that American citizens and how our country was formed would be a bit more protective of their 2nd Amendment rights.

Some people have an alarmingly blind faith in the government to take care of them. They question nothing, they challenge nothing, and if you don't agree you are paranoid or a conspiracy theorist because the government would never hurt us.

I agree, but I also think a big part of it is in party politics and the current political climate.

That the major media is basically just a press release co-op for the Democratic Party now doesn't help, either.

It kind of makes me laugh how some people get wood shooting guns

Get a real hobby

I haven't shot my rifle in almost 20 years. Doesn't mean I don't want to keep it, though.

Explain to me how going to a range and shooting at paper is any different than going to a batting cage or going to a driving range.

Batting cage - You are practicing hitting a ball

Driving range - practicing hitting a ball

Shooting range - Practicing killing something

I'll just never understand how someone gets off shooting guns for fun.

If you need 18 rounds just to kill a rabbit maybe you should try shooting something that moves a little slower. Slugs? Cans? Any white guy who has ever played for Gonzaga?

Yeah bitches! Even if you change the law or the constitution we're just going to break it anyways! It's our constitutional right to ignore the constitution if we don't agree with it!

Are you telling me there cannot be a law passed that runs counter to the Constitution? Really? M'kay.

*Sigh* If only the Blazers could have drafted a bit higher in 1984. They had their sights set on John Stockton. Instead, they ended up with that NBA stalwart, Benard Thompson.

Not everyone goes to a batting cage or driving range to practice hitting a ball. A lot of people go to blow off steam, and that's the same reason why a lot of people go shooting. They like to just go and shoot. Not everyone is practicing killing someone. They just enjoy shooting at bottles or cans, or big plastic fake deer. The point is, not everyone who owns a gun is out to kill people, or wants to kill people. I enjoy going to the batting cages sometimes, and I haven't played softball or baseball in years. It's just fun to blow off some steam.

Do you think playing FPS video games is better or worse than going shooting with a real gun? In one case you're shooting at paper, in another you're shooting at fake people. You tell me.

The fact still remains that guns are made to kill things.
