I heard on the news that some people are waiting outside of some shops to buy at 12:01 am...

2 words after re reading the OP:

FUCK IDAHO
It's good for when the Adrenaline junkie gets bored of skydiving, bungee jumping, and race car driving. They can vacation to Idaho and try to score and smoke some pot.

I don't think that's gonna last. Last I heard city ordinances are going into place in november stating hours of operations are from 7am to 9pm

The problem re: hours or sales, limiting items sold (i.e. no edibles to non-medical card carriers), etc..... at least from the articles I've read.... if stores choose to operate outside of the ordinances/rules, it's going to be difficult to prevent. A lot of those kinds of rules being put into place are essentially unenforceable.

So what's desirable about High CBD, low THC? Totally noob question.

Decent summary, but suffice to say, it depends what you're looking for:

1) The High
THC is probably best known for being the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana. CBD, however, is non-psychoactive. In other words, CBD can’t get you high. While disappointing to recreational users, this unique feature of CBD is what makes it so appealing as a medicine.

Doctors usually prefer treatments with minimal side effects, which has been a major barrier to the acceptance of medical marijuana. Likewise, CBD has been used to treat younger children with various ailments.

2) Anxiety
THC is known to cause some people to feel anxious or paranoid. But CBD is believed to have the opposite effect. In fact, studies show that CBD works to counteract the anxiety caused by ingesting THC. A number of studies also suggest that CBD can reduce anxiety when administered on its own.

3) Antipsychotic
In addition to being non-psychoactive, CBD seems to have antipsychotic properties. Researchers believe that CBD may protect marijuana users from getting too high by reducing the psychosis-like effects of THC. However, regulating the mind-altering activity of THC isn’t all that CBD is good for. On its own, CBD is being tested as an antipsychotic medicine for people with schizophrenia.

4) Sleep
One of the most common uses of marijuana is as a sleep aid. THC is believed to be responsible for most of marijuana’s sleep-inducing effects. On the other hand, studies suggest CBD acts to promote wakefulness, making CBD a poor choice as a sleep medicine. The opposite effects of CBD and THC on sleep may explain why some strains of cannabis cause users to feel drowsy while others are known to boost energy.

One of my friends went and bought marijuana legally for the first time yesterday. He said he was kind of overwhelmed by all the options but he ended up settling on 1/8 (3.5 grams) of a strain called Bruce Banner for $33. Not a bad price at all, and he said there were two blonde girls wearing bikini tops behind the counter, so I guess that's nice.

I can still get a 1/8 for $25 and 1/4 for $50... :dunno:

Legally with no middle man and from a store with a ridiculous amount of options?

I used to buy 1/4's for $40 from a friend who has a medical card but being able to go to the store and browse is worth a little extra money to many people.

Same as buying Gatorade at 7/11 as opposed to other Box stores like Fred Meyer. It's 2.29 at the "convenience" store. 69 cents at Fred's.

sure beats my highschool days of $40 1/8 'th, which was pretty standard, and it was always sold by a greasy dude in a AC/DC shirt who hadn't showered in weeks.

A few days ago I bought a gram just to experience legally buying it...it was kind of cool to know I could pick up a gram for about the price of a local bottle of wine without commiting to large amount of it...it cost 15 bucks

Had you smoked recently? Was it a dispensary where they weighed it out, or was it prepackaged in a sealed bag? How was the experience?

I wonder how long until the majority starts growing their own. If you know what you are doing and you can harvest seeds and not have to buy any more plants for a long time. From that you can hypothetically create whatever you want, edibles, concentrates, etc... The statistics wont be available for years (here, sooner in WA, CO) but it will be interesting to see if there is potentially a plateau in revenue which leads to a decline. I think 3+ years out we will have a better idea.

I smoked it..it was pretty cool, had a choice and it was weighed out by a guy who gave me 6 choices for recreational stuff. I bought a sample of stuff that was fruity smelling instead of skunky smelling like most folks prefer..it was more of a body high, probably lower in THC and higher in CBD but I smoked a pipe after dinner every night for the last 5 nights and it's great...my wife is less disturbed by the smell of the purple fruity variety. they took my id...put my info in an account, led me to a locked room with everything laid out..it's also in a smaller town a couple miles from my property so didn't need to go to the city to get it. Cash only though..

A lot of places are cash only, it is actually rare to find somewhere that accepts cards. The places where they weigh it out are always much nicer than the alternative. Those places are usually top shelf, which is the type of place you are going to have to go to if you want to get high CBD flower. You probably wont find any CBD herb at the prepackage dispensaries, and any you did find would probably be sitting in the back for so long that it's potency has broken down.

I don't think you will see recreational stores like these dispensaries when Oregon switches to OLCC stores in a year. You might have to be a medical patient to find quality CBD product, which would be an absolute shame.

Wont see home growers happen on a big scale. Heres the things about weed, growing weed is easy but growing chronic is hard. Also growing indoors requires a large initial cash input along with space, and growing outdoor requires space and security. Also getting seeds out of your grow requires a big fuck up or a lot of work, otherwise they will be very rare. There will always be a few hobby growers but the Oregon model is to keep it cheap enough that for most people it will not be worth the effort.

sounds like a good time. Its a lot like wine with all the varieties, flavors, smells, strains and such, I encourage you to try as many different types as possible, because they feel a little different and you will sort of get tolerant to one type, if thats all you smoke. Its a great connoisseur past time, its a fascinating plant in many ways.

This afternoon I made my first visit to an Oregon dispensary. Believe it or not, it was actually called Rip City Remedies. I'm not sure how they get away with that.....but anyway, I have been having some sharp knee pain and stopped in to see what they had that might help. I was the only customer so I had the full attention of the cute stony bud tender. The first two suggestions (9lb Hammer and Blue Magoo) were high THC indica with very low CBD, but then again, I had told her I wanted pain relief with a buzz. Then she suggested the highest CBD they had available (Blue Shark) but it had much, much lower THC. Tough choice so I bought a gram each of the two high THC strains and a joint of the high CBD. Came to $27 which I thought was reasonable and they took debit cards. Finished the high CBD joint about an hour ago. It certainly did wonders for the sharpness of knee pain. It's toned down to a dull ache, if even that. But they were right when they said there wasn't much buzz. So if anyone is looking for something like that, I recommend Blue Shark if you can't find Charlotte's Web. And by the way....it is so very cool to be able to have an open discussion about all this. Very fun and educational.
