I don't see a thread on Steve Duin's column from the Metro section of today's paper. It seems that at the Big O if you don't have a real story to tell you just make something up. Works for Canzano.

Could Paul Allen sell the team in the coming year? Sure, but it would seem to go against everything the guy has shown in the past. Basketball is his first love and I don't see him giving up on it easily.

I am pretty sure he moved at his request. He got tired of dealing with athletes. And the 2-3 articles he writes every year about a sports topic make that pretty clear.

My pure speculation is that Allen will put the team up for sale, sell it, and then take over the Hornets and move them from New Orleans to Seattle.

Whatever happens to the Blazers is anyone's guess.

Will he trade us Chris Paul?

Phil Jackson had some interesting comments on Chris Paul yesterday. Mainly, since the NBA is operating the team, who will decide where Paul goes in a trade? My money is on the Knicks...

Miami Heat. The Magic will also be taken over by the league and Dwight Howard will be traded to Miami as well.

Paul
Wade
James
Bosh
Howard

They will have no bench, and the league will shorten their games to only 24 minutes of basketball.

And Bosh's numbers will sink to 10/5.

Won't someone please think of Chris Bosh?

Same old Steve Dung. Same old stench.

I didn't think an owner could have a NFL and NBA located in the same city?

Actually, the rule was you could only own an NFL team and NBA team if they were in the same city.

Paul Allen was granted an exception already when he bought the Seahawks.

<snip>

The NFL used to have a rule that prohibited its owners from owning any other franchise in another professional league.

And then they changed that.

And then it had a rule that said you could only do cross-ownership as long as it was in the same town as your NFL franchise.

And then they changed that.

And then they said that if you were going to have controlling interest in an NFL franchise, the minimum percentage you had to own was 30 percent.

But then they changed that, too.

So we now have an NFL ownership fraternity that allowed Paul Allen, who has owned the NBA Portland Trail Blazers since 1988, to buy a majority stake in the NFL Seattle Seahawks in 1997. And there's Wayne Huizenga, who during a six-year period from 1993-98 owned three major sports franchises in the city of Miami — the NFL Dolphins, baseball's Marlins and hockey's Panthers

With the latest Roy news... I think this will become very very real

I love my Trail Blazers, but, sadly, I am soooooo over the NBA. I would Love to see an NHL team in Portland, even if it meant the Blazers had to leave. Portland will never be able to win a NBA Title. Give me any sport between the NHL, NFL or MLB.

NFL, fine. Then MLB. Hockey, meh.

Give yourself a season following a team, even just a few games, and you will be hooked on Hockey. Even just the Winterhawks. Sitting front row on the glass at an NHL game changed me FOREVER. Hockey is the best sport to watch in person.

You've got to be kidding - you think a small market team can't win an NBA title (which is ridiculous itself as a reflection of the multiple rings the Spurs have won) - but that we could in MLB? The sport most controlled by money?

Do they have games on TV? Maybe I'll go to one Winterhawks game, but I LOVE the Blazers and I only get to go to one or two games a year.
