"Roy is screwed" if there are large areas of bone-on-bone, if small areas, micro-fracture may be an option, but on both knees.

He's mentioned retirement twice now.

I thought I'd feel better about Roy after listening to an expert, but this does not sound good at all.

"Career-ending"...

Well-known knee specialist was just on 1080. I'm deflated. If micro-fracture isn't going to help, it's all over, isn't it?

It is really amazing how far technology has gone, where orthopedic surgeons can make diagnosis over the radio-wave. Doctors without eyes, here we come.

Roy will either recover, not or somewhat - independently off this amazing analysis.

I'm still in denial. Until I hear something definitive, I'm not thinking anything about Roy's knee(s).

It's pretty cut-and-dry, at least in terms of 'bone-on-bone'. Rask has been a knee specialist for 38 years. If there are small areas, then micro-fracture (on both knees) is an option. If large areas, then micro-fracture (on both knees) won't help.

Unless you know better than Bart Rask, of course. My wall of denial surrounding Roy just collapsed, and the reality of Roy's options are standing in front of me.

I was right with you 10 minutes ago. Now, best-case would seem to be micro-fracture on both knees, given what we all know about Roy's knees. The only hope is that media reports are incorrect, and Roy still has plenty of cartilage, and that a 3rd opinion will find out the real cause.

All it took is someone who has no clue about Roy's specific condition speculating about the WORST possible scenario to have you go from everyone else is insane to OMG! Retirement?

where are the fucking stem cells. damn you BOOSHE!

it would be nice if this doctor could see pics before speculating lol

They put artificial hearts in people. All Roy need is a rubber washer from Home Depot.

Bart Rask is a very respected orthopedic surgeon. I'd say he has a 'clue' about Roy's condition, at least based on what the Blazers are saying. Of course, this may all be a big smokescreen, and Roy is going to come out and dunk 5 times next game.

If one of our players needed one of those artificial hearts, his funeral would already be planned and paid without worry of refund by half the people in here.

Did Bart Rask view Roy's physical information, or is he speaking in general terms to this type of injury?

38 years of practice? Is this the same Bart Rask that graduated OHSU 21 years ago? Very well respected indeed. Credited for an extra 17 years of medical work.

Oh snap!! Mixum is keeping the cool head in here!

maybe he ages the same way our players do? THAT much faster? :dunno:

Guys it's no secret that bone on bone doesn't get better. I listened to the interview and nothing he said was outlandish. It actually made a lot of sense.

The latter. But it's not like there are a lot of options in the "bone on bone" world. Especially when the word is that it is both knees.

Sorry, read that wrong.

21 years, and he is obviously a liar when it comes to knees. I'm just relaying the information.

Well damn, if he has no clue what Roy's knee actually looks like, and was going to just say worst case scenario, and have everyone terrified, I wish he would have said generally people have to amputate. Would have been fun to see people flipping out from that.

I thought the same thing. Seemed like either micro-fracture if there are small areas of no cartilage, and that is the best case scenario if what is being reported by the Blazers is correct.

Relaying the wrong information. Thanks for that. Maybe he's a very unrespected doctor. I dunno. You don't know. But it was said on the radio! OMG!!!! Career ending. Rebuild. Break it down. Bring back KP or some shit.

He didn't say only the worst-case scenario. He said that micro-fracture on both knees could still be an option, if there is some cartilage left.

Brandon Roy himself said his knees are bone on bone. What exactly is there to look at? It's why hew pictures weren't sent down to the LA doctor, who, oh btw, didn't recommend surgery because there's nothing there.

You can try and tare this guy down all you want because you don't like his conclusions but he has plenty of reason to say what he said about Roy.

You're also killing the guy and you didn't even listen to the interview. That seems odd.

You're still in denial. I get it. I was there just under an hour ago. I would have been you in this thread prior listening to that interview (which you clearly did not do yourself).

Could be. Or, it could not be. Amputation could be an option. Knee replacement. All options. Now, I haven't seen Roy's knee, but I know that these are all options available.

Even if they went the MFS route we know very well it takes 2 full years to come back 100%, and that's just on one knee.

Denial of what? he has knee issues. Maybe he gets surgery. maybe rest makes him able to play. I don't know. You don't. And Rask doesn't. I'm not going to think his career is over, and start looking to get out of his contract because of it.

I see you've moved to anger in the process of grief.

I'm not trying to kill the guy. I'm saying he is reporting on worst case scenario of a situation. If a prosecutor speculates that the worst possible situation for someone on trial is the death penalty, do you automatically assume the guy is being put to death? I guess some do. I dunno. i can't control what happens, and flipping out about it isn't going to solve shit.

I see you've moved to anger in the process of grief.

Anger? Grief? Gimme a break. Yes, discussing amputation of Roy's leg shows just how angry I am, doesn't it? Grief? Did he die?
