For the longest time I was sure that I'd heard this before I ever knew of the Trail Blazers; but I couldn't remember where. It really bugged me. I knew it was some Australian Sports or news show from my childhood, but I could never find it. Until now.

It was the closing theme for Nine Sport, and Nine's Wide World of Sport in the late 70's and 80's.



That clip enabled me to find out that the song was written by Brian Bennett from The Shadows. It's called "Capital City" and is track A1 on the KPM album 1177 "Hot Wax".

Here's Brian Bennett in a 2010 presentation in Australia because another of his songs has been used for Australian cricket since 1977.



I think the Trail Blazers should organise something similar.

Given that this is the 50th anniversary of the Portland Trail Blazers existence, I think it would be a fantastic idea to honour the composer of the Trail Blazers theme song by flying him to a game, and having a presentation.

@THE HCP Will you please raise this with Trail Blazers management, and make this happen before it’s too late (Brian is 79)?

Because of Brian’s link with both Trail Blazers basketball, and Australian cricket, I feel very passionately about honouring him.

The sheer number of cover versions of the Trail Blazers theme that exist, indicates to me that others feel the same about the song, thus would feel the same about honouring the man who composed it.

If you have an iPhone (I can't remember what you have lol). You can download it, open it on iTunes and put it on your phone from there. That should be the easiest way to do it.
On Andriod, I don't remember but it's probably easier than iPhone

Androids, no clue. iPhones, you have to put the song/file on your iTunes library. Sync your phone to your iTunes library and add it to your phone there. If you never backup or sync your phone to your iTunes library, it won't work.
