OT: Bulls looking to move Noah? ('Tone called this one last week)

The team fired a coach over DeMarcus Cousins inability to get along with him. I think Cousin's is their future.
 
This team needs a player(s) that can put the ball on the floor and score, creating for themselves and others. That was our biggest downfall this year. The only players that could put the rock down and create either only looked for a shot themselves (Crawford), or absolutely sucked (Felton).

I'd rather see us go hard after Harden, Gordon, or hell even Dragic than Noah, or Deng.

I think it would take A TON to get Harden. I thought Gordon was an option until they found a new owner for the Hornets, and I don't see that guy letting their only real star player go. Dragic is a real possibility though. There just aren't that many players available in free agency that fit that description. Maybe Beal drops to us and we sign Dragic, or maybe pull off some trade that we aren't considering.

Also, if your theory is that they need to move one of Evans or Cousins, I think it's Tyreke that goes. Without a doubt.

I think a trade would work under the cap if we sent them Wesley/11th and they traded us Deng and Noah. Obviously the Bulls wouldn't be getting near the value that Noah is worth, but they'd be clearing 19 million off their cap and they'd get Wes and a lotto pick. I don't know if they'd bite, but I think Noah/Deng would be better than we could do in free agency.

They're looking to clear cap space. Reinsdorf is a cheap bastard. He'll never pay the LT.

Like him or not, he's been a key player (big minutes) on the team that won the most games in the NBA each of the past two seasons.

The word is they might amnesty him after next season.

I'd love to add Noah to this team, personally. Love his heart, think he would fit well alongside Aldridge up front.

Who knows?

Things changed a lot when Rose tore his ACL and is likely to miss most, if not all, of next season.

The Bulls have really tough decisions to make the season after, when I think Taj Gibson needs his extension, too.

Agreed. But I think they'd ask for at least one of our lottery picks and probably both. I'd be very interested in Anderson Varejao too (as might be known) as he's cheaper but just as good a defender, and perhaps better against larger players, but he is always injured and he's 29.

(I have to say that I checked to see that Noah really was 27 already, because I didn't believe it. But he is. Shows how much younger than him Oden was when they met in the NCAA final.)

I really don't see the Bulls unloading Noah, though. He's the heart and soul of that team. They'd try to unload Deng and Boozer first.

There's absolutely no way in hell the Bulls do that deal. (They'd be more likely to do Noah for the #11 straight up. And they're not likely to do that.)
 
I would be willing to trade the two picks for Noah and then try to sign Dragic; that takes care of our two greatest needs and two of the most important positions on a team. Also adds two guys right about Aldridge's age; all of them entering their prime.

I'd be down with that plan but we would still need more scoring at the SG or SF spot.
 
The two picks might be enough.

Are you fucking kidding me?

I like Joakim Noah, but he isn't a "star" player.....he is a good 4th or 5th starter...and he does have health concerns and he also is making $11 mil a year ($12/$13/$14 the next 3 years)....

This is EXACTLY how a team becomes a mediocre\go nowhere team by trading MULTIPLE!! lottery picks for a player who doesn't elevate your team significantly....

Come on guys....be realistic here.....given his salary, his injury history...the fact that it is the BULLS not the Blazers who are going to be strapped cap wise....I would consider the #11 pick...anything more than that would be asinine on POR part....

Also your scenario of signing Dragic is unrealistic, by trading for Noah you would very likely be saying goodbye to any significant free agent acquisitions as well...So Noah AND Dragic is far fetched....but more importantly it is a team that is going nowhere, even with both of those guys....Why would any intelligent person do that? Unless they don't give a crap about actually competing for a title....If you don't care about that then yeah go for it...trade for Noah, re-sign Batum for $10-11 mil cap yourself out for the next several years with players who are nice pieces but not "core\difference makers" insuring that you play around .500 basketball and if your lucky a 1st round and out every year....

I would trade the picks for Noah too, and here's why: Noah is more than his numbers. Noah is one of those players who (a) refuses to lose, but (b) inspires great affection in his teammates. He's the type of player you acquire if you want to turn around a losing culture. Rookies can't do that unless they're Magic Johnson or somebody like that.

This fan base needs someone to love unconditionally, and whatever you think about him from hating his team, you would love him on your team.

(I also happen to think this draft is way overrated. The best player by far is a Noah-like all-defense guy! If we lucked into the top three, then I'd say keep that pick. But #6 and #11? Give me a break. You'd be lucky if they were solid bench players.

I have to agree. Noah is a top 5 NBA center coming into his prime. There is no way they drop him for salary reasons.
