Jalen Rose said that he would refuse to play if he was a clipper. This is the problem the NBA is going to have with Donald running that organization. I think the NBA will have to get rid of the guy bit they will have to find more on him or set him up.

Why would they set him up? If he is bad for the game, he is bad for the game. To no surprise, he is and always has been. As long as the majority of ownership is on board, they can force him out. And they prob should.

Maybe I misunderstood what he was saying, but I didn't get the impression that he didn't want ANY black people at his games. He just didn't want his girlfriend to bring black people to the games because he thinks it would reflect poorly on him.

Did I get that wrong?

No. You got it right. But don't let the facts get in the way of a perfectly good lynch mob. At least, you (or I) shouldn't get in the way. It's not safe.

Where did I say it was any less or more offensive? I was merely outlining what I thought the comments meant. It's like you just want to be offended in this thread. Get your head right or get the fuck out.

Sure it's racist, but people need to stop representing it like he doesn't want any black people at his games. I'm sure he loves taking their money. If anything, the guy is a supremacist, which in my opinion means that he thinks he's better than black people. Thinking you're better than someone doesn't necessarily mean you hate them. Doesn't make it right, just makes it a different kind of fucked up.

That's what I got out of it as well. He sounds like he thinks he's better than black people.
 
I still say what was said is no ones business. And I'm not sure unless it's something he wanted public, should it be something to be made that big of a deal of. But I understand that's not how it works. Were a society full of our own hate and venom. And when we hear something like this, it gives us a chance to act on it.

He is not the only one to have racially insensitive thoughts to come through this league.

Someone could like black people just fine, but think that he's better than them because he's white, which really seems like it's the case here.

Fall back son. Before you tell me to get my head right and throw a little temper tantrum, you should probably read more carefully. Exactly where did I put words in your mouth? My point was it doesn't matter what he was referring to. Even magnifier asked you "is that not racist?" No one put words in your mouth. Rather we are questioning the relevance in what you were referring to.

Why would he hire Elgin Baylor to a top executive position in his business if he is such a racist? He hired Baylor in 1986 and Baylor was axed 22 years later (the team did suck, the draftees kept getting hurt, etc).

EDIT: He gave up a lot to get Doc Rivers as his coach this past offseason.

Why would the NAACP even consider him for an award?

Baylor sued Sterling and lost his case. The decision was a 12-0 jury vote against him (in Sterling's favor).

People do sue people or entities with deep pockets in hopes of even getting a settlement.

I think he recognizes that the blacks are better at basketball than the whiteys, but otherwise they're inferior and embarrassing. That being said, he does seem to like his brown sugar with a side of salsa.

OK, but traditionally, racists viewed blacks as not equipped to be managers, team president, quarterback, or catcher.

Hiring Baylor and Rivers would contradict this.

Baylor's complaint was that after 22 years of being an executive for Sterling's business, Sterling wanted to give his job to a white guy (Mike Dunleavy).

You're not addressing why Sterling would hire black men for jobs that require intellect.

I'm just messing around. I think Sterling doesn't really have a problem with black people professionally (Baylor was an example I was going to bring up), but doesn't like their type in terms of being buddies with them. Mostly, I just think he's more than a little crazy.
 
Devil's Advocate means I'm taking a position I don't necessarily agree with for the purpose of exploring whether the position I do agree with is sound.
