OT: Crash's line last night

Can't we just start about 3 stickies up top. One for Gerald Wallace, one for Channing Frye, one for Z-Bo. Then, the people to care to read what they did the night before can go there.

Or you could just practice self restraint and not read or respond to the thread.

I'm a small government guy, so I prefer self discipline over rules and regulations for those without self disclipline.

Word.

I'll never get over KP rejecting Charlotte's deal of Wallace for three used duffel bags at the trade deadline last year.

What was the specific deal?

Those duffel bags were filled with Popcorn. The popcorn was the deal breaker!

the downside, shooting .333 and doesn't have a single assist in 4 games.

He shot 13 FTs, which is very important to me. It shows he was probably slashing and attacking a lot, instead of jacking up jumpers. We could use that attacking mentality on this team.

History says otherwise. These are a few games on a bad team The guy is a a career .476 shooter who doesn't really need plays ran for him in order to be effective. You will also note, that it shows how effective of a scorer a player can be if they get to the free throw line. The difference between mediocre scorers and high end scorers are that the high end scorers get to the line every game, so even if they are having a bad game shooting wise, they put up points on the board. Wallace is that type of player.

He's not on my Blazers, but he is on my fantasy team. Go, me!

I have seen no evidence of Nate McMillan wanting easy points. It seems he would rather have his team rely on perimeter shots than easy fast break points or giving it to the big man down low for some easy dunks.

Well I guess that explains why Travis Outlaw is on the team. I mean, why take an open layin or open jumper when you can take a jab step one dribble fade away jumper after the defense has already recovered to guard you.

I thought that I had heard Nate yanked Blake out of the game for not passing to Oden :dunno:

If Nate felt that strongly about getting Oden the ball, he wouldn't play Blake at all. I've never seen a point guard so adverse to passing into the post.

Blake's job description:

1. Bring the ball up the court (unless Brandon wants to)

2. Hand the ball off to Brandon.

3. Scramble over to my spot behind the three point line in the corner.

4. Pretend I'm Steve Kerr while I wait patiently for the ball.

This is absurd and completely ignores the facts.

Steve Kerr's career AST% is 15, with 3 years in his career when he was over 20.

Steve Blake's career AST% is 25.9 - and this year, his worst in Portland, is 23.9 (which is higher than any year Kerr played)

In 7 years (+ 4 games in his 8th) in the league, Blake has dished more assists than Kerr did in 15 years.

Blake is far from an elite PG - but he is clearly an NBA point-guard. Kerr was a shooter that was playing backup PG because he was such a great shooter. Very different players.

Where did you hear this? I would sincerely doubt it.

heard it on the way to work this morning on the MSP.. said Quick had reported it. I have no proof though. Just what I heard them say.

I disagree. I think half of the problem with Steve Blake is that he doesn't limit himself to being a Steve Kerr like player. He tries to do too much, and the other stuff he tries to do, he doensn't do well. He tries to handle the ball and lead the break, but makes poor decisions doing it. He tries to penetrate the paint but is not a good finisher. Several times in crunch time he has tried to make decision (like jacking up the 30 footer against Houston when there were still 13 seconds on the clock when we only needed a 2), instead of just being a catch and shoot guy, where he has excelled at the end of games.

The best role players know their limits. Steve does not know his.

This year? I agree. He is pressing. Last year or for his career? Not at all. He had one of the lowest TOV% for any starting PG in the league last year and his career TOV% of 16.6 is very good - showing you he did not try to do too much. He did just what he needed to.

The best role players know their limits. Steve does not know his.

Again, if we are talking about this year - I think it's not that he does not know his limits, but that he is feeling the pressure from Miller and is having problems adjusting. It will come, I suspect.

But, the sample size is small, so....

Going back to the Blake vs. Kerr argument - in the grand scheme of things - it still makes no sense. Kerr was a shooter that was played as a PG because of his size/athletic ability - just as Kapono is a shooter played as a SG/SF because of his size/athletic ability.

Blake is a PG, not an elite PG or even a very good one - but he is a real, honest PG in this league and the historical evidence shows that he plays much differently than Kerr. He is a PG whose best attributes are that he is a low-mistake one and can shoot pretty well.

He's been rippin' down the boards for sure this season. He'd look good shutting down Carmelo and Ariza right now... in Blazer red and black.

Don't bother us with details! Some posters wanted to get Crash for nothing, so surely it could have been done. KP screwed it up. :devilwink:

Wallace was available for practically nothing. Pritchard did screw it up by being above it all and thinking we are too good for Wallace. Pritchard's performance at the last mid-season trade deadline was horrendous. He held an Ace of Spades with the LaFrentz contract and did nothing.

Even Luol Deng is tearing up lately. The guy had 24 points and 20 board last night -- same stats as Wallace. And he's been a name tossed around here too.

Bullcrap. Link from a credible source?

Gerald Wallace is the closest thing to a franchise player the Bobcats have, i don't think they would give him up for crap, i remember seeing somewhere they wanted Batum along with some package of players last year.
