The Warriors are talking to a number of teams about potential trades and it looks like the No. 6 pick in the draft is up for grabs. The cost, however is high. The Warriors want whoever takes the pick to take on the contract of Monta Ellis as part of the deal.

I know it isn't particularly relevant, but with how crazy this board is likely to get over the next 24-36 hours I thought I'd throw it out there. Ellis makes 11 mill/year I believe.

I think Ellis would make our starting lineup much better to be honest. He's not a bad defender when guarding 1's. I wouldn't mind the Blazers acquiring him for cheap. Although, he's not much, if at all a point guard.

If I were KP, I'd be all over that. Ellis would play great next to Roy, and the 6th pick could net you a quality big....that could play now

I'd easily give them expirings for Ellis and 6 if that's all they wanted. Andre and Joel, might e too much money for them. Hell, do Miller and Bayless for Ellis and 6. Then Rudy and 6 for 4.

I'm not sure I would want that contract on our team. I like Monta but he's making much more money than he's worth.

Monta and the #6 for expirings?

I think there are plenty of teams that do that and hopefully the Blazers are one of them.

Love Monta's game. He'd be a terrific addition as a starting PG for us (especially with his improved 3pt shot), and I'd gladly ship out Dre + Webs (most likely filler) to get it done.

I have a hard time believing that it's Monta plus #6 for expirings... too good to be true and then some. Ford is just throwing some chum in the water

regardless, Ellis would fit tremendously beside Roy

GSW probably wouldn't want Webster. They sound like they only want expiring contracts. If they would Webster and Miller would be enough salary to get it done. I think we would have to trade them Joel and Miller.

Yes, I'd definitely take him and the #6 if all it cost us were expiring contracts (to the tune of $11 mil).

This is RUMOR overload!

How much of a shooter is Ellis? I thought he was more of a slasher combo guard.

Then, they'd have to throw in a filler.

Either way, I'd get it done.

He shot a better % from three this year, than Brandon. His game is much more well rounded than before. AND, he can play D if he wants to.

There's just no way. This is as bad as the rumor that the Sixers would give up the #2 pick to get rid of Elton Brand.

One of the true headcases in the league.

I'm not sure how you can objectively evaluate anyone on that GSW team.

In any case, I see Monta as a far more talented and experienced version of Bayless, but with a better jumper and better defensive potential (should he ever be required to play some). For expirings and a couple of youngsters or even picks this is a no brainer to me. Ellis is talented and the sixth pick could give this team a lot of wiggle room if they wanted to broker a trade for an established star (or they could actually pick a pretty decent prospect too I suppose).

Ellis is a VERY overrated guard. He plays okay defense but at the price of taking a million shots per game. He has great talent but I don't think he could take being the third or fourth option on a team.

I can't recall the exact words, but he has said some pretty stupid things. I'll look.

There is a Vespa dealer on Barbur Blvd, I think, there is definitely one on Cornelius Pass and there used to be one across from the Lucky Lab on Hawthorne (might still be there), or did they move to NW 23rd? I think he will feel right at home, here in Portland, especially as he passes all the dweebs that use their pedals to power their two wheelers.

What are you talking about? Seriously, what do you know about him or most players that would lead you to make this insider type claim? I'm just a fan and though I live in the Bay Area and keep tabs on the W's, he's never struck me as an especially crazy guy... if anything he comes off as a pretty mellow guy. I sort of think it was admirable how he led the league in MPG last year while guarding guys a full size larger then him. He noted in preseason that him guarding SGs wasn't likely to equal winning hoops, but was pretty much a pro's pro after that. The W's have been a true mess so I don't begrudge guys for getting a little frustrated

I would trade any of our expirings/crap for monta and #6. You betcha!

11 million a year for 4 years. Over paid.... yes. But not THAT bad. He can definitely attack the rim at will.

The Guy averaged 26 PPG this year... dont poo poo Ellis....

And dont use the "GSW" excuse

First off try to remember who he plays for, there's no such thing as a bad shot unless it's taken late in the clock. Secondly, he'd probably be this team's second option or more likely he'd be the team's true sixth man -- a guy who plays 32 minutes a night backing up both the guard spots.

I think Ellis is pretty damn overrated by some, but getting him, along with the #6 pick, for expirings/lesser players would be a huge upgrade.

Is Ellis and 6 better than Brand and 2?

BTW, there's a reason that 6 is available. Probably b/c Wall, Turner, Favors, Cousins, and Johnson will be gone, and GSW doesn't want to pin its hopes on the Aminus, Davises and Udohs of the world.

he also averaged 41.4 minutes per game with almost taking 25 shots a game. I do not see Ellis as a point guard, he is more of a shooting guard and we already have a much better 2 guard on our team then Ellis.
