OT: Jason Kidd is done

Dude. You have to put it in context. It's not just one bad half. But the gradual decline that has led up to that bad half. He has slowly but surely gotten less and less effective in this league and I looked at the boxscore and went "wow, his prime has past." And you must agree with me. He's not what he was. He used to be an MVP candidate. Now he's not even an All Star and getting "less and less effective." I was noting it. Every single player in the history of the game reaches a moment when they are "done." It appears that Kidd has reached that moment. He is not what he was. Not close. His days of being a dominant point guard in this league are "done."

And I do agree here. He is past his prime. He's not an elite player anymore. However, he's not done. He's still an effective player and manages the game better than almost every other PG in the NBA.

The reason I made the point I made is because it seemed like you were saying he might as well just say fuck it and retire because of his bad half.

For everybody freaking out on KingSpeed...

He has a history of pointing out stats for one game and basing an entire opinion of the present and future on it.

Sometime he says hes kidding (after page 5), sometimes he says it with a straight face

Whoever was pointing out his one game opinions and how they are flawed dont bother...trust me, save your breath. I was down that path a year ago

The color of the urine in your avatar is the same color as the jersey. Nice jersey color.

god dammit, where'd the other thread go?

For what it's worth, this is a PUBLIC FORUM. Anyone can post anywhere. I wasn't necessarily trying to make a point with that post, more of a joke if anything (ya know, hence the smiley afterwards).
I got that it was a joke, but it's a touchy area, and there's definitely an element of tribalism involved. I still think that it's disrespectful for you to exercise mod powers when we have plenty of good, community selected moderators already.

And I'm not going to disagree that some of the immaturity was totally uncalled for, but so was your guys' fans coming in to the Laker forum and gloating about your win the other night.

But hey, double standards are cool I guess.
Again, I don't give a fuck about the other forums here, I want to talk with Blazer fans. The only time I ever venture is to laugh (while lurking) at another team's forum in crisis mode. Any Blazer fans out of line in another team's forums should be dealt with by that forum's moderators.
I would tend to disagree with the latter part of your post here pal. I don't recall the last time I was treated "well" in this forum. Anytime I come in here to voice my opinion, someone is attacking me. Whether it be KingSpeed or someone else, I'm getting attacked almost always.
Precisely why I don't go to other teams' forums....

Kidd already said he wants to play until he's 40, so he's still in his prime guys ;) Kidd still is one of the highest IQ guys in the NBA, so the guy is legit

Re: OT: Jason Kidd is done.

A guy who nearly won MVP is now good for 9/8/6. And he didn't even make the All Star team. So yes, his play has declined. Big time.

Learn the game, then post.[/QUOTE]

There's been many times I've felt like telling you the same thing.

Shit, IDK about Kidd being done, but I do know that sometimes our PG's don't get more than 3 assists a game...

True, but how many of them are named Jason Kidd? :ghoti:

Jason Kidd is more famous than Eric.

His game also isn't predicated on freakish athleticism, so he has some staying power. It would behoove him, however, to develop a reliable outside jumper.

BTW, how much would this team love a point guard who averaged eight assists and six boards?

It is still interesting to me that over the course of the last month we have discussed how Kidd, Jefferson, and Carter are all still really good players. (And i agree btw) Yet the last year and a half they all played together the team was far from good. How can that be? What happened there?

Larry Bird once said that he'd never coach a team for more than 3 seasons because after that the players stop listening to you.

I wonder if there's a similar problem with talented players. The Billups/Hamilton/Wallaces Pistons seemed like the perfect fit, but eventually the formula just stopped working. Part of that was Ben Wallace slowing down, but a lot of it I think is just that a team gets stagnant over time and you need new blood to revitalize the team.

Even the Jordan Bulls were much differently constructed in their second threepeat than their first.

Makes me wonder how realistic many of us are being in assuming Oden, Aldridge, Roy, Bayless, Batum and Fernandez will be on this team for at least the next decade. Five years from now we may have only two or three of those guys left.

Player A: 10.7 ppg/4.9 apg/2.7 rpg 42% FG, 42% 3pt, 85% FT
Player B: 9.2 ppg/8.4 apg/6.1 rpg 42% FG, 40% 3pt, 82% FT

It seems the consensus is that one of these starting PGs is having a "career" year, and one is "done".

I guess I'm the dumb one...I'd rather have the over-the-hill Olympic PG, especially since he's still outplaying our starting PG. :dunno:

You know it is best when evaluating a player if you actually watch more than one game.

but he had 1 assist at half time of one game! put a fork in him.

Or to actually watch A game, as oppsoed to just commenting on the box score, which is where Eric gets the majority of his basketball knowledge from.

I still can't believe there's an argument being made that Kidd is done.

Kidd is gonna be three points off a triple double for every game for the rest of his career

Learn the game then post

Kidd looked very mediocre out there tonight, he is indeed done and Dallas just took some egg to the face with the Harris deal..it'll turn out worse than the Jo for Davis deal..ouch..Dallas=out of the playoffs next season.

I was sort of agreeing with Kingspeed about Kidd but after watching him last night he isn't done. He might not be as good as he once was but still better then most of the PG's in the league and a whole lot better then our 3 PG's. I think now if we can't get A.Miller next year signing Kidd for 2 years wouldn't be that bad. I think having Bayless play behind Kidd for 1 or 2 years would really help him. I don't care if we still have Sergio as long as he is our 3rd PG. I would probably rather have Kidd/Bayless and someone else then Blake or Sergio so Nate is forced to play Bayless as the backup PG. I thought his defense was one of his weak points but he played better defense then Blake or Sergio.

Jason Kidd is in his prime and is the greatest PG of all time.

...?

Checkmate.

Terrific bump, Bengal Duck.

Kidd looks awesome today.
