I completely agree. I would have answered Kareem as well if I was Kareem.

I understood the question immediately. If it had been "identify the source of the quote," it would have said "Bill Walton" in the clue, not "this '70s UCLA & Trail Blazer center." In other words, the added complexity of the question should cue one to realize it's something different.

But I think Kareem was primed to believe the next question would have him as the answer, since Trabek says something like "You'll like this one!"...so he probably didn't pay close attention to the question.
