Kareem was pretty sick. 23.4 ppg at age 38? That's incredible. 35 and 17 in his prime years? wow.. video game numbers.

This is definitely not aimed at KingSpeed, just reminded me of a joke.

Roses are red
Violets are blue
I'm a schizophrenic
And so am I.

So this shrink shows his patient a picture "What does this make you think of?"
"Sex."
"OK, what about this one?"
"Sex"
He shows him three more. Sex. Sex. Sex.
"Sir, you are obsessed with sex."
"Me?! You're the one with all the dirty pictures!"

Why do you keep using words like "we" and "our?" Your disappointment in Oden is far from universal.

I said "our." Never said "we." Don't tell me that your expectations of Oden haven't been lowered over the last two seasons. We drafted him in 2007. Did you expect his career averages to be 9,7, & 1 come November 2009? The injury and his slow play out of the gate lowered all of our expectations.

I wondered if anyone would catch the source. Used to be among my fave movies.

Mine as well. Anyone not familiar is severely deprived. I'd prescribe death therapy--it's a guaranteed cure.

"Our" is a word like "we" and "our."

Don't tell me that your expectations of Oden haven't been lowered over the last two seasons.

I wish I could respect your wishes, but I have to say that my expectations haven't been lowered.

We drafted him in 2007. Did you expect his career averages to be 9,7, & 1 come November 2009?

No, so my predictions for November 2009 would have been incorrect. That's different from my expectations for his prime.

The injury and his slow play out of the gate lowered all of our expectations.

There you go again, using words like "we" and "our."

So what were your expectations for his rookie year? What are your expectations for this season?

Either your expectations have been lowered or you never had high expectations to begin with.

Broken logic. As I said, my predictions for his first two seasons would have been wrong. But I started off with high expectations for him and I still have high expectations for him. Really, the only disappointing thing to me was his missed time to injury. His on-court play has been consistent with the development of a big-time talent. If he's still playing like this as he approaches his prime (age 25 onward or so), my expectations will be much lower.

As I mentioned in the "Bill Russell's career stats" thread, around 22-25 PPG and 12-13 RPG with excellent defense.

Really? That would be amazing. I think, on this team, his prime stats will be 18 ppg, 15 rpg, 3 bpg

That's true. I was giving a stat line based on what I think his talent level is...environment (i.e. lots of other scorers around him) may decrease his scoring numbers.

My feeling is if li'l ol dwight howard can average 14 rebounds in a season, Greg can grab 15.

Man, that was a different era. Look at his rebounds! 14, 16, 16, 16, 14, 14, 16 in his first 7 years, and he only led the league once.

The high expectations from Oden was from his rebounding and defense. Hence the Bill Russell comparisons, who wasn't exactly an amazing scorer. But of course Oden is never going to average 20 rebounds a game like him. But yeah, 15 sounds like a good goal. What was Ben Wallance career highs?
