Poor, poor LeBron James. He made millions, was adored by the Cleveland fans, and yet he feels that the owner never really cared about him.

``I don't think he ever cared about LeBron,'' James is quoted as saying. ``My mother always told me: 'You will see the light of people when they hit adversity. You'll get a good sense of their character.' Me and my family have seen the character of that man.''

Is this the same owner who built a multi-million dollar practice facility 20 minutes closer to LeBron's house so poor little Bron-Bron wouldn't have to drive so far to practice?? Is this the same owner who gave LeBron every thing he wanted and more, just to keep him happy?? Yep. That's the guy.

I guess LeBron wanted him to come over to his house and mow his yard every week, just to show he "cared."

Wow. What a prima donna. I used to have so much more respect for LeBron. But now he is just a whiney, spoiled brat. Just play that damn game that 99% of us would do for free if we could do it for a living.

ah yes another check in the column of referring to himself in the 3rd person

When LeBron faced adversity, he ran away to Miami to be with his friends.

I have some friends who know people with the Cavs, and they were always talking about how everyone inside the organization (from team attendants and security to owners) catered to every single one of Lebron's needs (regardless of how miniscule and degrading they may be), all in hopes of avoiding July 8th.

Total lack of gratitude towards any of them by LeEgo.

And him repeatedly referring to himself in third person is getting to my nerves. I loved watching and rooting for the guy the last four years when I lived in CLE, but his attitude is making me hate him. He makes Kome seem tolerable.

haha! Yeah, getting annoying as hell. And he speaks of showing great character.. yeah, rubbing it in the faces of Cleveland on national TV sure wasn't some dickhead move.

Well at least he "Spoiled his fans and family with his play on the court" I F-ing hate him... and glad that most of you have come over to his hating side with us.

My mother always told me: 'You will see the light of people when they hit adversity. You'll get a good sense of their character.'

So true, Lebron. We saw your character when you refused to shake hands with your opposition after getting eliminated.

Is that the reason the facility was built?
Is that the only reason the facility was built?
Was the old practice facility old and crappy?
Were no other new practice facilities built during the last 7 years in the NBA?
Did LeBron increase revenue and team value so much that the expense of this facility was trivial?
Was LeBron the only person to use this facility or was it used by ALL of the players on the team and the coaches, etc?

Is this the same owner who gave LeBron every thing he wanted and more, just to keep him happy?? Yep. That's the guy.
Link?
How do you know that Gilbert did everything LeBron wanted?
Sounds like a statement that doesn't even pass the giggle test.
Riddle me this - if Gilbert did in fact do everything LeBron wanted, why did LeBron leave?

I guess LeBron wanted him to come over to his house and mow his yard every week, just to show he "cared."
Maybe. Gotta link for that?

Somehow I doubt that is true.

What is more likely true is that LeBron was upset that Gilbert failed to surround LeBron with enough talent to be a championship contender. LeBron posted the highest PER's, the biggest plus/minus number and most WinShares, etc. the last few years, and also had the weakest supporting cast of any of the top teams.

MAJOR FAIL on Gilbert's part.

I am not suprised that you don't see that and choose to fixate on LeBron as if he is the only bad guy in this story. Gilbert did lash out at LeBron and say some very nasty things. Does that not get a reaction from you? Or is that ok because he is a rich, white guy?

Cleveland was consistently among the leaders in the league in spending ever since LBJ was drafted.

Gilbert invested all the $$ he could. It's a shame that Ferry didn't get (all) the right pieces. To claim that Gilbert was the one who "failed to surround LeBron with enough talent" is ridiculous.

Seriously? Come on now.

I agree, its not like Gilbert ever shied away from spending money. Gilbert gave him anything he ever wanted within reasonal possibility. Lebron is a narcissist, its always like that with superstars, especially guys like James who was told at a young age that his shit wasn't brown, its purple with pink polka dots.

Gilbert is the owner. The buck stops there. He is the only person in the world who has the power to hire the management, approve the deals, etc.

Sorry if you take offense. But it IS all on him.

I never said he didn't try.

Trying and failing are two different things.

Should LeBron be required to continue to hitch his wagon to a free spending failure, just "because".

Because he "should".

Because Shooter will get upset.

Come on.

Face facts people. Stop getting overly emotional about the guy who is out there in front of your face. The other parties to this divorce (Cleveland ownership and management) are just as important.

Takes two to tango.

overly emotional.

What would you say if Gilbert was a narcissist who thinks he is a superstar and that his shit doesn't stink?

Would it matter? Would it change your opinion? How would you even know he was that way?

You wouldn't. And yet, you have this strong, very negative opinion of someone you know very little about.

. . . and you are coming to the defense of a primadonna athlete, that won the genetic lottery and has life by the nuts.

I can form my opinion about people I know very little about easily. Its the same way we as Blazer fans hate Kobe. Do we know him? No. Did we know Bill Laimbeer? No.

Gilberts probably a narcissistic ass hole as well.

BTW, I think your the one being over emotional. I'm not really emotional about the guy at all. I happen to not really care much about him going to Miami, I don't think its going to work anyways.

That is emotional.

Sorry.

lol. How is that emotional? You can read emotions through typed words?

I don't give two shits about Lebron. You seem to though, you go around sticking up for him if anyone bad mouths the guy and insinaute that since we don't know him personally we shouldn't have an opinion of him. To me, your the guy who needs to get his emotions in check.

Not to nit-pick, but Gilbert's lack of competence doesn't prove he didn't care.

If LeBron had said he left because he had no faith in the way the organization was being run, I suspect people would have reacted differently.

Bingo, Bango, Bongo.

This is why he could never win a ring as the main guy. I mean he is going to play with a guy that did that in D Wade.

Masbee is really enjoying the devil's advocate in this thread.

The fact is, Gilbert would have paid Lebron the maximum deal, which is a larger contract than he eventually got. To suggest that "Gilbert never cared" after he offered the largest contract any team could possibly offer, is ridiculous.

How can you be doing something for a living if you're doing it for free?

If anything, Gilbert gave Lebron too much control.

Lebron had too much in terms of say in the front office, in terms of how he should act, and in terms of how much he wanted to practice.

It's like the guy who showers his girlfriend with money and yes to every question until the girl finds someone new and just as rich that she can latch onto.

I think he means he'll play for beer, food and lodging ...

As to the whole issue of whether or not Gilbert "cared" or not, I think it's immaterial. What it does however is tell me a lot more about Lebron and his daddy issues -- having never known his own father.

I would not call James a prima donna because that would be an insult to prima donnas.

First, employers generally do not "care" about employees. I'm well treated (not on NBA scale of course) and I also know if I don't produce or if the company hits hard times they won't hesitate to let me go.

Second...cry me a river! We should all suffer like he did.

I agree with Sir Charles, a real superstar wins, not whines.

I've been cheated
Been mistreated
When will I be loved?
(sarcasm)

Lebron obviously needs to keep his mouth shut. The more he talks the more he shows his lack of maturity.
He is not getting the proper guidance from his "team" of whatever the hell they are. He will be fine in a year if he just shuts up. Nike needs to step in with some PR advice. (Hopefully better than they did with Tiger)

gotta agree. At some point you gotta stop digging.
