Well they really didn't have much cap space this summer.

Still plenty of players out there for Houston to get, but they are under the gun with the Parsons situation. Maybe they go after Deng?

If they match the parsons deal, they won't have much room to do anything.

They need to go after depth if they're smart. get 2-3 good players on decent contracts.

They now have the money . . . but funny they got make those decision (if they go that route, which I agree they should) in a day or two.

They have to move quick that's for sure. They should go after guys like Ryan Kelly, Marvin Williams, Michael Beasley, etc ASAP to bolster their bench.

Yeah, cause Howard loved working with Pau... and vice versa!

They gotta overpay someone! If Morey's big coup this offseason is signing Parsons for 15 million a year and dumping their bench, he's gonna be sweating bullets.

AH HAHAHA. This is soo funny. Daryl Morly has made a couple massive blunders.

Rockets traded away the best backup center in the league for cap space.
They traded away a great 6th man for cap space. They had to include their next years draft pick.
They declined a team option on Chandler Parsons next year. Instead of being on a tiny contract he became a free agent this summer. Now he will get a minimum of $30 million over the next two years and can walk as a free agent in 2016. So Houston effectively has to pay $28 million to get Parsons for ONE additional season!

The Rockets have nobody to sign! The Rockets can't sign Bledsoe or Monroe as they are restriced. They only have 2 days to use their cap space! They can't sign the only legit free agent PF left because Pau and Howard hate each other. Deng is rumored to be interested in Miami. Ariza and Lance are the only other stud free agents. None of those 3 players fit in Houston because they'd be backups on near max contracts. HAHAHA

I'm loving it!

Wow. This has to be about the money for Bosh and living in Miami. I can't believe Houston degraded. Do they still go after Carmelo or somebody? Doesn't really make sense if you keep Parsons.

Bosh is all about the money, if he wanted to win he goes to Houston. I would bet that is exactly the reason Lebron went back to Cleveland, they met Bosh said he was not going to take a discount and Lebron was like fuck it.

Yah it works cause Carmelo is really effective as a PF.

good call.

Thats so funny! I can't wait to hear the press conference on Monday. "We traded away our 2 best bench players for nothing; then paid our small forward $30 million more than we had had to."

He loves the city of Miami. If you had a great job would you really want to quit; move to a different city and earn less? I can't blame him at all for staying put. He was willing to take a pay cut to keep LeBron but since that isn't happening might as well earn what you are worth.

Nice breakdown . . . and that is pretty funny. Especially about 28 mil for one extra yr for Parson.

I would be happy with Carmelo guarding LA or RoLo.

Yah that would be good except you know when they have to guard Carmelo. He would flat out destroy them off the dribble or shoot wide open three pointers when they sag into the lane to avoid getting beat off the dribble. We would have to double him every time and that would be bad cause one we are a lousy on defensive rotations and Carmelo, Harden, Parsons and Beverly are all good enough passers to find the open shooter.

I don't think it was a blunder. I think it was a high stakes gamble and he lost. I also think it was smart to go for it, because championships are incredibly rare and difficult to get and you almost never get them making very safe moves. This was their chance to risk their second/third round team for a chance at a championship-caliber team and Morey nearly pulled it off.

I admire how his long-term "stockpile assets" plan netted two stars and nearly a third one. It's still hilarious how it failed, though. The obvious way for it to fail was James going back to Miami and Bosh following. When James decided to go to Cleveland, it all seemed to fall into place for Houston...and then this.

I doubt he was going to take a pay cut at all. Oh well the good news is now 90% of Miami's tv games just got canceled.

That and I bet Riley got in his ear about loyalty. Not that Riley isn't full of shit since he steals everyone else from other teams. But Bosh seems like he is easily influenced. And Riley is persuasive.

And . . . .?

It was in response to:

Maybe I'm missing your point on how it isn't relevant.

They were passed over pretty quickly, obviously, given how fast the Rockets moved on from the big Melo jersey recruiting fiasco to desperately trying to push for Chris Bosh.
