That's definitely possible. Either way, I think he's the best point guard of this generation. He took the torch from the Kidd's, Payton's, etc.

IMO, he's the best point guard since Magic Johnson. And I loved Payton (and thought Kidd was great).

Admit it, is it because you're an advanced stats junkie? Cause Chris Paul is like an advanced stat junkies wet dream.

He's also pretty fun to watch play in the real life, yo.

Stockton?

I prefer Paul, but it's a prime comparison. Stockton, while he had a great prime, is pretty unparalleled at his position for number of excellent seasons. I wouldn't have any issue with someone picking Stockton over Paul.

Just giving you a hard time. Paul is still an amazing player, 3rd best in the league, but I would still hesitate to put him next to LeBron and KD.

Apparently Morey said this on a Houston area radio station.

Daryl Morey: "The teams that find the Chandler Parsons, not the ones that pay them the max, are the ones that succeed long term"

How about the teams that find the James Hardens? The Dwight Howards? This is a guy who is chasing other people's stars and he's talking about developing talent?

I think he's talking about paying role-players the max or near-max. It's a perfectly reasonable point that you pay stars the max, whether "your own" or imported, and, ideally, develop useful role-players so you don't have to overpay them in free agency.

I mean, you can definitely read it as bitterness due to the events of the past week, but there's a coherent team-building philosophy there.

Says the guy who paid Lin a shit load of money.

Jeremy Lin.

Omer Asik.

What about the teams that find "the Chandler Parsons", then renounce them with a season remaining on a contract that's about $1M, and lose out on an entire season of cheap talent? What happens to those teams?

I think he acquired both guys as future trade bait.

Not that that really worked out. Morey does have a bit of "trying to be too clever" to him.

No, Lin was supposed to be the PGOTF. He let Dragic walk so he could sign Lin.

How genius was THAT?

Funny for Morey to say that about Parsons given that reports were his was ready to pay Parsons the max if they signed Bosh.

It's funny, because right now Houston could be running with a lineup of Dragic/Harden/Parsons/Jones/Howard and I'm sure they could have dealt Asik for something better than what will surely be a shitty pick from New Orleans next year. Supposedly Jeff Green and Bass were on the table.

I know every team can play the "what if" game, but speaking of Green/Harden......Westbrook, Harden, Durant, Green and Ibaka (Plus several other bigs that are just as good as Perkins) That would be a decent starting lineup if they would have just held on to them all.

The cool thing about the OKC what if, is they aren't a better team after their shitty decisions. They have been regressing. Houston could be regressing as well, since they may not get a marquee free agent, or the one they get is a bust in chemistry and fucks up their entire team. <--- Cap Hell and All.

Sometimes you just got to let it bake........

If there’s one thing on the basketball side of things that absolutely sets Morey apart from his counterparts, it’s his busyness. He has a plethora of employees constantly running mock drafts, sorting through and crunching numbers, putting out feelers to other teams. He’s not shy about overhauling his roster in one fell swoop, acquiring players only to flip them within a year or two. But to what end? At what point does the constant activity and risk-taking have to pay off in tangible playoff success (or even modest playoff success) in order to validate itself? What makes Morey different from a man at a craps table who has been rolling for 3 straight hours, but is still just about even with the house?

haha clutchfan tears are the best.....f-houston! lol.

Don't know if this has been said in any other threads but I thought I'd bump it for this one

Nikos Papaioannou: Papanikolaou will stay with @FCBbasket 4 next season after he declined @HoustonRockets offer.

This guy looks like the poster child for rotisserie league sports nerds.

The rockets talk about how they need to wait until they can add a third star, but that's very short sided. Dwight is nearing the age of 30 and he is a player that relies exclusively on his athleticism. Dwight may lose 5% of his effectiveness every year going forward. The rockets losing out on certain contributors to try and risk a small chance of grabbing a star is wasting those prime years Dwight has left.

Houston won't be as good as they may have been with Melo or Bosh, but they're still going to be a damn good team. I don't think they're going to miss Parsons much.

Not after The Shot revealed him to be basically useless when it counts :ghoti:

Houston really should have went after Bledsoe this summer when they had cap space to make a competitive offer. They could have made a similar offer structure to him that Parsons got from the Mavs and then scared off the Suns.

As it is now, they are an older, slower, and less versatile version of the team that got beat in the first round.

It isn't just Parsons. It's also Lin and Asik. They have no bench.
