What's wrong with Bynum? Why would the Lakers keep Bynum if they were trading for Howard?

They won't, but Orlando has to want a player. if I'm Orlando, I'd start with Gasol, and tell them to fuck off with Bynum.

I still hate Barea because he is a flopping bitch and took it as such as our guards owned him. But still I can't believe Bynum doing that to Barea.

Not unlike how some thought of Rudy when Ariza put the moves on him...

I hate those kinds of plays. They're dangerous and pointless and as professionals these guys show a lack of respect for each other when they do that. The Player's Union should be fining them too for that kind of wanton disregard for a player's career. We all know Rudy was never the same after that play. Crash came back and Barea seems fine, but what happens the next time Bynum throws his dumbass elbow up like that.

It was great how much Phil distanced himself from the team in the presser. He was on the ball calling them "The Lakers" rather than "we" or "us". I wouldn't want to be within a million miles of those losers either.

Personally, I think you're underrating Bynum quite a bit. Like Oden, he's had health issues...but he's played much more than Oden and been really good when he's played. He's still only 23 while Gasol is 30. If I were Orlando, I'd rather have Bynum than Gasol if I'm losing Howard.

Would Howard really want to go to the Lakers? I mean, I guess it's a big media market, but he's already playing with a couple of broken-down overpaid hasbeen shooting guards as it is, and we saw where that got him.

Why? Didn't you just post that Gasol destroyed his value this postseason. You'd trade a franchise player for Pau Gasol? I'd like to see what Bynum could do in an offense that features him as more than just an afterthought. I think he could be an elite player, if he stays healthy.

Because even though he ruined his value, he's far more consistent (healthy wise) than Bynum.

Wasn't your original point that LAL had nothing other than Gasol to offer, thus making Chris Mullin an idiot? Bynum (and even Oden) are still considered young players who could someday help a team win a title. I think you not mentioning Bynum as a potential trade piece for the Lakers in a Howard trade was a glaring oversight.

No, it's my way of saying that Orlando could get something better than an oft injured player and a big pussy for Dwight Howard.

Bynum's PER the past 4 years, starting in 2007-08.

He's played in over 65% of regular season games the past three years.

I think he's a potential Hall of Fame player, in the right offense.

Howard would still have to agree to a contract extension with a trade partner, though. It's not like the team that gets Howard automatically gets to claim him for his next contract.

If Howard wants to go to the Lakers, and if Orlando wants something of value, then the Lakers do have a couple of very good trade assets.

Hence, Chris Mullin, IMO, made a valid point.

I agree. I think the Lakers can make a perfectly legitimate offer for Dwight Howard, once Orlando is looking at trading the last few months of his contract. People often forget or neglect to take contract status into player trade value. Howard is massively more valuable than Bynum, but three months of Howard is not necessarily more valuable than several years of Bynum.

First off, I like how you included 4 years for PERS, but the last 3 for %'s. he played 30 games in the 1st year, 50 in the 2nd and 54 in the third.

And even though I know this will inevitably bring Oden bashers out, that means he's missed 52, 32 and 28 games in those three years.

AND more to my point, he's averaged 12, 14, 15 and 11 points per game in those years.

If you do the 3 seasons (30, 50 and 54 games played), he averaged just over 55% of the games played.

And if you include the 4 seasons, his % is actually 60. If you could the last 3 seasons, his % is 69. So I'm not sure what your basing your #'s off of.

I live for days like this. There have been times when I've considered myself more of a Laker Hater than a Blazer fan. Of course that's ridiculous, because I love the Blazers, through all the hard times and the few good over the years. But my passion for the demise of the Lakers is almost as strong. I hate that franchise with every core of my being. I've hated them since Kareem dismissed the chances of the Blazers in interviews before the 1977 WCF, basically calling the Blazers a bunch of hippie hicks. Then in the 1980s, the Showtime Lakers squashed the 2nd round hopes of a couple of promising Blazer teams, and then Magic Johnson's smug comment before the 1991 WCF: "Well, they may be Portland, but we still the Lakers!", and I don't need to tell you how crushing that series was. Then in the late 90s, the Blazers had teams with fire and promise, but twice, the Lakers with a cocky-assed Shaq and a baby-faced Kobe, put an end to those dreams. Thankfully it was nice to see those early Shaq Laker teams get swept themselves. I won't even dwell on 2000 through 2002, the pain and anguish from those years are well documented. Then the Lakers NBA-rigged defeat of Sacramento in 2002 sealed the fact with me that Laker Hatred wasn't just a Blazer thing, it was an NBA thing. These last two years of watching Kobe puff up his chest and try to place himself along side Michael Jordan as the GOAT has been soul-crushing. But today, my fellow Blazer fans, is a new day, and Karma has finally laid a judgement on the Lakers, and their response was cheap shots and poor losing, which should be a surprise to no one.

Fuck the Lakers. Fuck them right in the ass.

Go Blazers.

chris- that post was cathartic. Best thing I've ever read on this forum. It summed up exactly how I feel. This is a new day, indeed. I would rep you ten times if I could.

A big question mark for a sure thing. Bynum was a #3 or #4 option who never had a defense focus on him. It sounds supiciously like Kwame for Gasol, Part Deux.

This actually cheered me up...thanks for reminding how awesome my team is and how pathetic you are as a fan

If I can say one thing about Phil Jackson, it's that he hasn't tolerated his teams pulling bullshit like that. He's probably glad to be retiring.
Really? Jackson's Flaker teams have always been willing to pull cheap shit. He always has a goon pushing buttons when he thinks it will give his team an edge. Rick Fox. Lamar Odom. This is not unexpected.

You have been dead-on with your posts today. Who the fuck thinks the L*kers are classy? They're punks and Odom and Bynum are just at the head of the line. We all know about Artest, but Barnes does this shit and even K*be does it. It's part and parcel of a Phil Jackson team. He learned it from his run-ins with the Bad Boys.
Exactly.

After reflection, you are correct. He's not above letting his teams play bitch-ball. Although I believe in this particular case, he was not giving Odom and Bynum instructions to do this. Odom and Bynum (especially Bynum) are chickenshit cheapshot artists that should be banned from the game.

Your team is fragile and classless under any kind of real pressure. Congratulations on the clean sweep in the second round. Another blowout elimination game to add to Kobe's career. He's got 5 of them now. Yes, he has 5 rings but only because others stepped up while he was sucking (see last year's game 7). The Mavericks officially own Kobe (4-0 all time in the playoffs) until proven otherwise. Hilarious. And you thought the Lakers would win this series after they choked away the first two at home. Hahahahahaha!

If DaRizz is still proud of his team after what Andrew Bynum did, that speaks volumes about him as a fan.

Yep, he leads with the elbow/forearm to the exposed chest/ribs of the driving player, without even trying to go for the ball. It's totally cheap and a good way to crack some ribs.

Given his history, I'd be surprised if he doesn't get at least 5 games for that, and 10 games would not be out of the question.

BNM

I called for ten games last time, so I would want 30 this time and if I was the recipient of one of those I think I would file a civil assault case against him.

Amen. But I already knew SlyPokerDog had no class. He's proven it before in spades.

Apparently the announcers missed all the other times Bynum has done the exact same thing.

I think his value in the league just fell by the wayside. Good. I want the Lakers to feel a complete implosion. I would be pissed if somehow the Lakers got Howard for a shitty player like Bynum. Let's just hope this incident and those comments he made publicly will lower his value enough for the Lakers to have 0 chance of getting Howard.

Bynum's quote after the game:

"A little bit frustrated and they kept making layups," Bynum said. "No, I'm not disappointed in myself. It is what it is. We got embarrassed tonight, so that's what happened."

That's class right there.
