OT: Nets, Nuggets, Charlotte, and Utah in serious Trade Talks

First off I assume you mean Utah wants to spite Denver? Secondly, Kirilenko is going to make 17 million this year. He's a pretty good player, but he's not 17 million good and while Diaw is nowhere nearly as useful (unless they're going up against Joey Chestnut) he makes roughly half that, which puts Utah back below the tax line

Your right about them wanting to get out of a luxury tax situation. But, from Northwest Division perspective, they got to be thinking anyway to fuck the Nuggets is a good thing as well. Its also not talked about much, but the ownership sitaution in SLC is a lot more messed up than people want to believe. Deron Williams is next to go.

If the loan, which I have no idea if there was one or not, was truly that crippling, why trade for Jefferson?

Because you can pay Jefferson's contract over the course of the year using basketball related revenue ... and don't forget that Williams has started to make little rumblings that unless the team is looking to compete then he may force a trade and the loss of their franchise player represents a potentially far greater financial loss then replacing Boozer's contract with Jefferson's.

There's got to be some way to swoop in and nab Devin Harris in this deal.

ESPN'S Marc Stein says these are the known parts of the trade.

Denver gives Carmello Anthony to New Jersey
New Jersey gives Derrick Favors, a 2012 1st-round pick (protected 1-to-7) (originally from Golden State), and other 1st-round picks to Denver
New Jersey gives Devin Harris and Jarvis Hayes to Charlotte
New Jersey gives Quinton Ross to Utah
Utah gives Andrei Kirilenko to Denver
Charlotte gives Boris Diaw to Utah
Charlotte gives D.J. Augustin to New Jersey

"The Bergen Record reported Friday afternoon that the Nets would also receive Bobcats guard D.J. Augustin, with New Jersey's Jarvis Hayes accompanying Harris to Charlotte in a sign-and-trade."

The reason for Anthony stalling today:

"Yet the source said Anthony was also hoping that the Knicks or the Bulls, realizing Anthony is on the brink of going elsewhere, make a last-ditch attempt over the weekend to join the bidding."

If Carmello would rather go to Chi/NY this NJ trade will die. These superstars basically get their choice of teams.
