That's too bad.

No link, I got a phone call from someone that knows such things

Hollinger's saying the same thing:

A league source just told me Odom is going back to the Lakers.17 minutes ago from web

Well, that sucks.

That candy inhaler has no pride.

This is what addiction does to you. :(

Apparently it's a 4 year deal, for $33mil, with 4th year team option.

That's less than what Miami supposedly offered him.

So Odom can get 4 years from LA, but Brandon Roy can only get 3 from Portland?

More from some dude on realgm:

shelly smith on espn 710 am radio is reporting that portland came in with a 5yr 40 mil offer to LO but he didn't want to go to portland.

So Odom can get 4 years from LA, but Brandon Roy can only get 3 from Portland?

I thought it was a guaranteed fifth year that was rumoured to be the sticking point, not a fourth year.

As a Laker fan I'm not all that thrilled about it.

My concern is he played well in a contract year and we won't see the same commitment from him.

ah interesting. Thanks for the clarification.

I can only pray you are right. Maybe Gasol will take up smoking while he's vacationing at home in Spain. And maybe, just maybe, Byum and Kobe will play twister with predictable results...

I wonder if Portland turns around and offers that contract to David Lee?

I think your biggest concern might very well be the trouble he and Artest can get into while living in LA.

LO could go seriously sideways hanging out with Ron-Ron day to day.

Canzano's buddy said that Odom was made the offer two days ago. Not sure how, but that's what he said.

maybe as sign and trade?

That, when Bynum bends over...he gets a big surprise?

We'd only need 6.19M (since we have about 700k in cap space, and a 5/40 starts at 6.89M...

It wouldn't even have to be that complex.

Travis to MEM for whatever picks.
Blake + cash to SAC for nothing. Conditional seconds. Brockman's rights. Whatever.
Bam. We have 8.3M to play with. More than enough.
OR
Or Joel to OKC for nothing. That's scarier to me.

Either way, I don't like it much, unless we were getting future 1sts in the first deal. But from what it looks like, it's done, right?

Go back to the ESPN article and you will now find it scrubbed clean of any reference to the Blazers. Maybe Larry Miller sent them a quick letter?

updated on 955 the game, earlier reports were false, KP commented that it wouldnt have worked out under salary cap, the earlier report was from another source that said they reached out to Odom.

I was just there 5 minutes ago and it still had a "Portland got involved on Tuesday" mention, though it didn't expand on what that involvement entailed.

STOMP

If Portland even got mentioned at being involved and got LA to spend more money, then it was a victory.
