OT: Pacers quietly shopping Hibbert

Our starting five was so awesome I want to see how good it is to start next season. The group made a ton of improvement from two years ago to last year. I want to see what kind of improvement it makes over this summer. Neil, don't break up our starters under any circumstance!

For what it's worth, I think they tapped into their potential and then some. Aside from individual improvement from Damian and Nic and perhaps Rolo. Which would result in overall improvement in the starting lineup. I can't imagine it getting any better

Rumor makes it sound like it would take LA to get a deal done. I think a lot of teams would offer more than Rolo and Wes.

What do you think will get offered that's better than that offer? I would think Indy considers themselves in win-now w/George's ability and West's age, so they need a center coming back. Which good ones (who are ready now) could be sent their way?

The only ones I can think of are Bogut and Lopez. Maybe Chandler? Varejao? Horford? (who thinks he is a PF).

I would definitely try to acquire Hibbert. Give up some of our young guys or multiple unprotected picks. But I wouldn't trade Lopez or a starter for him. Hibbert doesn't have the ability to play more than 28mpg due to his asthma do we need to pair him with a big minute center. Robin would be a perfect tag team. There's too much risk with Hibbert decline last season to have him as your only starting option.

That's fine @ 28mpg. Between Kaman and Robinson it wouldn't be a problem at all, both can go 20 mpg. (which still wouldn't be available)

There goes all their depth. I would move Lopez in a package with McCollum, Leonard and a pick or two for him. I wouldn't get rid of all that.

I agree, would be a mistake to get rid of Robinson at this point (unless straight up or something very obvious and unrealistic). His motor is so high I think we'll see big improvements out of him this year.

I guess one way to answer this question is to ask yourself will Roy Hibbert be one of your targets next free agency and if he is who do plan you letting go for good to bring him in. And use those pieces to build a package to bring him in now

7 for 1, when the 1 averaged 11 points and 8 boards.

smfh.

Agree. I like Thomas. I like CJ and have a feeling about him. But you have to move something to get something. Lopez, CJ and parts. I just wouldn't move Wes for him. It leaves a hole at the two. Something I'm concerned that you and I will be discussing all year if such a deal went through.

Nice to see someone use the RealGM Trade Checker instead of the copycat ESPN Trade Machine.

Trade machine hipsterism? You do know that RealGM Trade Checker isn't locally sourced, right? I mean, if you like that mass produced garbage, that's fine, but I prefer the smaller, indie trade vetters.

Indy has no use for 7 people in a trade. THey have no use for a ton of "potential" guys that won't see minutes for them. They made the ECF and had the best record in the nBA. One guy like that, sure, they're not dumping him strictly for a package of prospects just because. Which is why I like my Lopez deal. They get a tiny bit younger, get a prospect in Crabbe, and get cap space which they crave./

I'm positive that Olshey will come up with a 3 or 4 team trade that will end up with the Blazers having Hibbert and Lebron. We won't have to give up much so we can use Lebron as 6th man.

Having the best record in the NBA coming from the east means jack shit.

espn trade machine is down for the moratorium

legit?

They were 18-12 against the west, which is still a .600 winning percentage and better than all but 3 teams in the west against the west.

Sweet beans. Let them play a full schedule of it.

It's the same as home/away records. Win just enough on the road (west) and beat the shit out of teams at home (East).

Indiana is a fringe playoff team in the west. 30 games out of 82 is never going to convince me otherwise.

Uhm, ok, sweet beans. Are there plans to move the Pacers to the western conference next season? No? Then who gives a fuck what their record would be in the western conference. They are in the east. It is easier there. But that is completely irrelevant to the point I was making that they were in the ECF and have virtually no interest in dumping their C for 7 players, of which they'd have to likely cut 5, none of who would be immediate contributors. I don't care about them in the west.

Sweet beans. Dumping 7 players for 1 is stupid for anyone not named Lebron. So that's a moot point.

Indiana is lucky, not good. That's really the bottom line. They are not a true contender, since they don't really have to contend with more than one team. Their whole team was in shambles and still made it to the ECF. Lucky, not good.

I know the ESPN one gives some extra detail over RealGM, but it was nice to see someone use Granddaddy. What do you mean by locally sourced? How about links to a couple of the best small independent trade verifiers so I can see the advantages.

We're in agreement on Robin and Wes. I wouldn't move two guys who are great fits with all the pieces around them and on cheap contracts, even for a potential star. (not named Lebron or KD)

where can i get some of these sweet beans? they sound good.

Not even Trader Bob could come up with a scenario that made sense for both teams.

Pacers just need to find that one coach/GM that think Hibbert's implosion was a fluke and that they are the geniuses who can fix him. I wouldn't want to be a fan of that team.

He's never been much of a rebounder. He can completely disappear during games, big games at that. I wanted him in 2012 but I'm happier with Lopez now. Hibbert has big holes in his game. Lopez fits our starting lineup like a glove. I say no.

You have a point but another point, I like centers who make free throws and Rolo is money. Hack a Hibbert in the playoffs would be a real drag to watch. Like I said, it's a tough call

Why would any team do that to a 77% Free throw shooter? Do you know what you're talking about?
