OT: Randolph traded for QRich

zach puts up an inefficient 20/10 without passing the ball and while playing terrible defense. he won't help the team win games.

He's not a particularly inefficient scorer (nor is he particularly efficient). He scores his 20 PPG on relatively average efficiency and his rebounding is perfectly legitimate. He's a poor passer and defender, though.

He'll make them better, IMO, since he's not replacing a significantly better defender but he will provide significantly more post offense to complement their perimeter scorers and significantly more rebounding. They'll still be a sub-.500 team, especially in the west, due to their lack of defense.

You're wrong about Z-Bo's offense -- he's actually pretty efficient and has really good range on his jumper -- but you're spot on regarding the other end of the floor; defensively he's about as effective as wet toilet paper at stopping anything.

...I saw him block a shot [ONCE]!!! :drumroll:

richardson was already an expiring deal in a season where teams are going to be in love with expiring deals at the deadline with hopes of lebron, wade, and bosh. oh and it cost them 7 mil in cap space this season just to do the deal.

i don't see anything win win about it.

he helped the clippers beat the blazers last season.

I can agree with this.

I'm taking this as Memphis feels they don't have the ability to attract and sign free agents the next few seasons, they'd rather just get a player with talent but drawbacks in ZBo while trying to gather young potential.

Absolutely fantastic deal for the Clips, they could have $27 million in cap room next offseason.

Edit; this makes the Pau Gasol trade extremely puzzling to me. Why take a salary dump to unload an all-star then next offseason grossly overpay for a far inferior player? A franchise with no direction and poor planning.

In a matter of years, Zach has been traded for Frye and now Quentin Richardson. Wow that really sucks.

As well as Cutino Mobley who was diagnosed with a heart condition during the trade physical that would lead to retirement.

AND RUDY FERNANDEZ. OR IS THAT NOT TRUE WHEN WE ARE TALKING ABOUT THIS SINCE IT MAKES IT LOOK LIKE HE GOT VALUE?

Re: OT: Grizzlies get Z-bo

They can always bring back ZBo's pal Darius.

I have to say I feel sympathy for guys like Rudy Gay and Mike Conley. Hopefully they'll go to a better place when their rookie deals expire (

Re: OT: Grizzlies get Z-bo

ZBO = HIGHER PER THAN LMA. SO HE'S A BETTER PLAYER OVERALL!

Re: OT: Grizzlies get Z-bo

ZBo's old buddy/teammate Damon is an asst. coach there. Best of luck to both of them. :)

Re: OT: Grizzlies get Z-bo

Wow they were already having problems with guys unwilling to pass to each other at the end of games, now they just made it worse.

Re: OT: Grizzlies get Z-bo

Poor L.Hollins. I always liked him. Good thing he is already bald.

Re: OT: Grizzlies get Z-bo

Hahahah what a joke of a franchise.

Conley/Mayo/Gay/Z-Bo/Thabeet

It could look decent, on paper, but I have a feeling they'll be finishing last in the league.

I don't think this team would look good written in gold and unicorns.

Why would this team even have fans? Couldn't they just go into their back yards and press their faces against a hot grill? It's faster and reminds you to never do it again.

I look forward to Portland rolling this collection of shit by 20 point per game 4 times next season.

holy shit.
The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports: Several NBA sources have confirmed to me that controversial and wildly popular guard Allen Iverson - through representatives - has made the Grizzlies aware that he would like to play in Memphis. The veteran, prolific scorer is a free agent for the first time in his professional career. While no deal is imminent and conversations have been only cursory, Griz brass are said to be internally weighing the pros and cons of possibly adding Iverson to the team’s youth movement. Iverson would certainly have to take a major pay cut from the $21 million he earned last season with Detroit. The Griz would only entertain Iverson with what they’d deem a reasonable price, and if the 34-year-old agreed to play off the bench.

InsideHoops.com editor says: Adding Iverson would spark some team interest, ticket sales and maybe a few wins for the Grizzlies, but not really accomplish much more than that. It would probably wouldn’t help the development of the young players Memphis is actually building around. Adding Iverson would be a small temporary boost.

Re: OT: Grizzlies get Z-bo

This is great, Z-bo and AI on the same team.
Apparently Memphis will indeed be punished for ruining our capspace.

Re: OT: Grizzlies get Z-bo

how, by selling more tickets?

Oh, they'll sell more tickets for a little while, but once the chemistry problems become apparent and the losses pile up, the fans will stay away. ZBo and AI aren't exactly lovable losers.

nah, they won't be worse than last year I think. not like they've ever had any chemistry...i think they get better but not by much.

Re: OT: Grizzlies get Z-bo

PER doesn't take into consideration defense to the extent that it matters in real life. Players that play good defense but don't get many blocks or steals are underrated in it, and players that play no defense are overrated relative to average defenders.

I'll let you guess which camp Zach is in.

I think, though, that many Blazers fans are emotionally attached to Aldridge and repulsed by Zach. Randolph is a superior player to Aldridge in many ways... especially rebounding and scoring the basketball, which heavily influence PER.

Re: OT: Grizzlies get Z-bo

Wait, is that true? If so, that's one of the stronger argument against PER that I've heard.
one player's worth being greatly overstated by PER isn't really much of an argument against it. i don't think anyone has ever claimed PER to be perfect.

zach isn't better than aldridge at scoring the basketball. he's better at rebounding, equal at scoring, but much worse at everything else.

come on, its thrown around here like its the arc of the covenant or something.

No, it's thrown around here like it's superior evidence to "omg you really think hes any good do u watch bball?>>>?"

Not proof. Evidence. Randolph is very productive, and PER is a measure of productivity. Randolph is really bad at defense and PER doesn't attempt to measure that in any meaningful way.
