How did race get brought into this? He doesn't mention it.
Because that seems like something a white conservative republican would post.

So let me ask you something HCP, if I said a person walked into a store and bought chicken, watermelon and grape drank, would it be racist for me to say "that sounds like something a black guy would buy."
You're point is well taken. However, you know damn well it wasn't a Black Democrat who said that right?
Because it's okay to slam the white man! Now go sit in your corner whitey!
Why can't the guy just be an asshole? What does his race have to do with it?
If you don't think what the guy said was at least implied racism then I don't know what to say. It was certainly implied by saying the crime rate would rise. What so since most of us are criminals (uneducated statement) if basketball was gone we would have more criminals? GTFO.
You can tell from his quote, he obviously has a deep seeded hatred for white American born centers.
Oh wait, that's you. Never mind.
Seriously, can you not connect the dots in his comments? 76.3% of NBA players are black, the highest, by far of any major North American sport. If 70% of NBA teams fold, that means more young black men on the streets and an increase street crime. He's implying that just because these guys are black, they would be criminals if they couldn't play basketball for a living.

Seems like you are implying that, not him. Higher % of black people in prison than the population, so connect the dots. Oh wait that's racist. Somehow yours isn't though.
You are also assuming it wasn't. Racism at it's finest.

White Privilege at it's finest. Ya know the guy that will defend the racists?

Minnesota Politician Pat Garofalo Tweets Incredibly Racist Comment about NBA
![]()
What you see above is a racist tweet from Pat Garofalo, a Minnesota House Representative. I could have posted a screenshot instead of embedding the tweet, but Garofalo seemingly has no intention of deleting it.
Garofalo defended his tweet to the Star Tribune, saying that he was merely “talking about the NBA’s high arrest rate and that they are the only major pro league that testing positive for marijuana is not a substance abuse violation.”
Of course, that explanation is complete BS, because not only is he factually wrong (Kevin Draper over at The Diss has figures that shows the arrest rate in the NBA is far below the national average), it’s also nitpicking a minor issue as if it’s a major one (marijuana is legalized in two states, widely available for medical use in another 18, and is generally considered not a major offense).
Anyone with enough common sense can read between the lines of his tweet. The word “street,” much like “thug,” has a history of being associated with black American males, and the NBA is, of course, made up of mostly black male athletes.
Though Garofalo is rightfully getting shredded on Twitter, he has a fair share of defenders who believe the tweet was not only not racist, but speaks the truth. Sad.
