damn, no way, ok who thinks he will be good? im bookmarking this!

i vote 15.0 PER

Wasn't he having a disappointing season in Spain?

i seem to remember him shooting like under .400 or something...

in 20 games he averaged 6.5/3.2/3.5 on .392 shooting from 2, .224 from 3...1.6 spg, 1.8 to/g

I think he will be in the top 10 of PGs within his rookie contract, and has a better chance of being an All-Star than of being, say, Sergio.

With the lockout, next year is going to be a ways off. He may even be able to play a full Euroleague season next year.

Wolves need to try and acquire the perfect coach for Rubio - Mike D'Antoni. Enough of this triangle crap!

Smart move by Rubio and his people.

I agree. He was so shitty in the Spanish league this year that he may not even get another contract worth more than his NBA rookie deal. May as well sign on in the NBA before the lockout and get his $3 million or so/year.

If he can't put up big numbers in Europe how is he gonna do it here?

b/c you can't touch a guard in the NBA
b/c they player shorter games and less minutes in the EuroLeague
b/c he's a passer first, and I imagine his teammates in the NBA are better than in Europe
b/c he's 20
b/c as Kevin Love showed this year, #'s =/= winning. And the kid's won a lot in his short lifetime.

Shitty player who got benched on Spanish League team (2011)

I thought I'd update your list. :)

Fair enough. :)

Numbers didn't change much from then to now, aside from a Rudy-esque drop in shooting %. And if he's that crappy, I still say the best PG in Spain, and DPoY is worth having on our team.

Rudy was also considered a great defensive player in Europe, and won DPOY there as well in 2008. Plus, Rudy actually has some international accomplishments, while Rubio was outplayed by Juan Navarro in the 2010 world championships and by Jose Calderon and Navarro in the 2008 Olympics.

If Rubio is anything more than an average player, I'll be shocked. He's slow, lanky, and can't shoot.

I get what you're saying, but I'm not sure that one of the detractions should be that, while playing in the Olympics at 17 on a silver-medal-winning team, he was outplayed by 2 NBA PGs in their prime.

I've never seen a 20-y/o put on muscle. That "lanky" thing is going to haunt him

A long-armed guy who's a terror in the passing lanes seems to me to be the best bet for D in today's "touch a guard and it's a foul" league. Much more than Jerryd and Armon's hyperactive nothingness.

Rudy was a "terror" in the Spanish passing lanes as well, and had even more awards than Rubio. Oddly, Rudy never filled out, yet he was a much better player against NBA competition than Rubio ever was, regardless of age.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I smell a bust who would have been cut by his Spanish League team, and wants to sign a guaranteed NBA contract before the lockout.

Rudy's list of accolades. Remember, many posters were advocating trading Roy in his prime to clear room for Rudy at BBF.

Is Rubio the Freddie Adu of the NBA?

He'll be 21 when the regular season is supposed to start, and his game is regressing as his peers catch up to him physically.

Rubio was outplayed by Juan Navarro in the 2010 world championships
Mills also played better than Rubio at the 2010 FIBA World Championship.

So you don't like Rubio?

If he can't put up big numbers in Europe how is he gonna do it here?

Have you compared Brandon Jennings' numbers from his last year in Italy to his numbers his first year in the NBA?

I'd rather have Sergio. He's better.
