It also means qualified candidates that might have had their head in the sand the past few years of this joke of a front office will now have another opportunity before we even get off our year long vacation and actually hire a fucking GM so he can pick a coach
 
I kind of expect him to lay low for a couple of years, probably take a studio gig with ESPN or TNT or something and then come back and take a job when his services are in demand ... Portland's rebuild probably isn't real high on his "dream job" list.

He and his brother would be super entertaining on the same broadcast. I can imagine them bickering like brothers over certain players or playing style. If he wants to take some time off, ESPN should jump on that

It's funny that you have been so critical on the Blazers for not hiring a GM for a year.

Yet without a GM, the organization did what you have been yelling for years to . . . fire Nate. Something no permanent GM in the past 7 years was willing to do.

So what is the big rush to get a permanent GM?
 
I highly doubt he'd be a canidate here. It's well known his players arent that fond of him.
I'll bet Orlando has already given Nate a phone call.

The team essentially fired Nate. they flat out quit on him. The organization had no choice. Trading Miller, Rudy for Felton, Smith over Faried, Jamal Crawford. Those are the reasons we need a real GM
 
I bet they hire Mike Malone -- a coach that Dwight has said he would want to play for.

While Larry Miller & Co. continue to twiddle their thumbs.

Malone would be a great hire. Too bad we don't have anyone in place to get that done
 
I actually think SVG style and personality fits Ptd.

In a small market, I hope the Blazers find a player's coach . . . someone who might have some ability to attract players. Blazers need every advantage they can get.

But with SVG voted by players as the least coach they'd like to play for, I'm not sure he's the guy

If Portland hires a coach prior to hiring a GM, then that tells you all you need to know about who is running the team, and how strong that GM will be in shaping a rebuild.
 
I like Van Gundy...I think he is a hard working guy who is creative at setting up plays\game plans against other teams....

I think he would be fine in POR with LA and a bunch of young guys...

I don't see any other candidates out there that are any better...I think he is unfairly getting a bad rap b\c of the Dwight Howard fiasco....that was all brought on by Howard himself....Van Gundy isn't the problem...Howard is...It will be interesting to see if firing the coach\GM will keep Dwight in ORL....probably won't

SVG wasn't the problem in Miami, either. That was all Shaq's and Wade's fault.

If true that voted coach players least want to play for, then his problems (probably got that vote because of the way he handled the Dwight Howard situation)becomes the team's problem.
