Ok. So are you gonna ref all the games? Because the nba refs can't tell.

Unless it's Shaq dropping his shoulder into your chest, anytime someone gets knocked to the floor you can pretty much assume it's a flop.

I disagree. You stand still and have a 6'8 guy jump into you at full speed and we will see if you hold your ground

Of course they can tell. I can tell, and I only ref'd one year of OSAA high school ball. And besides, I'm talking about the obvious flops. Once there is a strong NBA policy, they stop.

I like a lot of the ones that have already been posted. I'm just going to pick the ones that I personally like:

1. Eliminate zone defense.

2. Bring back hand checking.

3. Eliminate 3 in the key because they never call that shit consistently anyway, and I'm tired of BS calls against my team.

4. Clear path should be an automatic 2 points and the ball back.

5. I like the replay idea with two flags for the coaches and a ref reviewing the calls. The NFL got it right.

6. Eliminate timeouts and only have play stoppages similar to how soccer does it. Actually, it would be badass if the clock never stopped at all. Run that shit out.

7. Punish floppers with one game suspensions.

8. No star treatment at all.

9. Eliminate the jump ball and have a dunk off instead. Each team gets two dunks. The team with the best dunks gets possession of the ball. (This might suck, or it might be awesome.)

10. Unban all the cool things that fans used to bring into the stands to distract players at the free throw line. They never should have banned those spinning hypnosis signs. Obviously lasers and things that can harm the players will not be allowed.

11. Public punishment of refs who overstep their bounds. Fuck the egomaniacs.

That's all I can think of now.

Our new NBA commissioner.

I didn't say "hold your ground"; I said "knocked to the floor". There's nothing wrong with getting hit and staggering.

I don't have a lot to say besides the ones that were already said. But here are a few I can think of:

1) White people shots count for more
2) Air balls during a shot clock expiring isn't a dead ball unless the shooting team catches it. If Kobe shoots an air ball at the shot clock buzzer and Roy jumps and gets it, he should be able to start the break without the game being stopped.

3) That's another thing I would like that would quicken up the game a bit, and its a bit like soccer. When the ball goes out of bounds, the player can just run and get the ball and toss it in. He doesn't have to wait when the ref is ready or anything like that. Obviously the ref could blow if he wants the play to be stopped for whatever reason, but if the ball just rolls out and he points in the direction of possession, the player should be able to just pick it up and throw it in and start the game.

A lot of changes I would like to see would just to make the game quicker, as in not as many dead balls.

Bring back an independent referee's union. Publicly hang Stern and put his head on a pike outside either the Staples Center or MSG as a warning to future commissioners not to ruin the game for profit.

Add two refs sitting in Tennis chairs or suspended from the roof in a chair so as not to obstruct fans. Allow each team two instant replay calls. If they are wrong the other team shoots a technical possession stays the same.

No Superstar calls.

12 fouls before fouling out and any beyond 6 give an additional free throw. No more killing the big man this way.

Allow hand checking again.

Repeating some that NateBishop said with an UH HUH!

Eliminate zone defense.

Bring back hand checking. (worth repeating)

Eliminate 3 in the key because they never call that shit consistently anyway, and I'm tired of BS calls against my team.

Clear path should be an automatic 2 points and the ball back.

I like the replay idea with two flags for the coaches and a ref reviewing the calls. The NFL got it right. (worth repeating.

Eliminate timeouts and only have play stoppages similar to how soccer does it. Disagree with running the clock out.

Punish floppers with one game suspensions.

No star treatment at all. (worth repeating you bastard Stern)

I also wonder about eliminating the circle underneath the hoop. I'm tired of guys wussing out because they are afraid of the and one and/or getting posterized.

62 regular season games more spread out to cut down on injuries and wear on players.

Then allowing the top 2 in each division automatic playoff berths and then the next 16 by record to have a wild card playoffs single elimination playoff series before the full play offs start this would allow all automatic teams more rest top 4 out of these advance and get final seeds, this gives incentive for the bottom feeders to at least attempt to get into the middle 10 for the wild card spots.

The refs suck, though. I would rather have them review the calls afterwards and have no choice but to get them right. If you give them the power to make a decision like that right away, they are going to get it wrong sometimes, and it's not worth that risk.

Absolutely, also I want calls like that to be shown during national broadcasts and also show the exact tapes they reviewed after and during a game with exact angles. I want accountability. I think an independent referee's union is a great first step. Free them from the clutches of Sith Lord Stern.

Check out this rare footage of Stern's communique with the Referee's at the 10 minute mark of the 4th quarter of Game 7 WCF in 2000.

As was suggested... the refs may need to be independant of the league. Everyone knows they try to feed the entertainment value of the game. The NBA wants this... hell the owners and many fans probably do too... but it takes away from the sporting value.
