Caron Butler donned a Suns uniform at a public unveiling of the new duds two weeks ago and that looks like it will be the only time he will be seen in it.

The Suns have agreed to trade Butler, a Racine, Wis., native, to the Milwaukee Bucks for point guard Ish Smith and center Slava Kravtsov about seven weeks after they acquired Butler and hailed him as a veteran influence for the youthful Suns and part of the future. The Suns gain $5.65 million of cap space for any potential in-season trades but also save that money to make an expected costly waiver of Michael Beasley more palatable. Beasley would be owed $9 million of guaranteed salary.

Butler, 33, will make $8 million this season on an expriring contract but the Bucks could absorb most of that with $7.5 million of cap space. Smith, who has played 121 games for six teams, will make a guaranteed $985,000 this season with a 2014-15 team option at the same salary. Kravtsov, who logged 25 games in Detroit as a rookie last season, is on an expiring deal for a guaranteed $1.5 million.
Here is your one and only look at Caron Butler in a Suns uniform.

The Suns sounded like a team that planned to keep Butler and nothing since then indicated otherwise. Butler smartly wore an orange tie at his introductory press conference and general manager Ryan McDonough talked about his man crush on him and how Butler was part of the team’s future with Eric Bledsoe. They were acquired in that early July three-team deal that sent Jared Dudley to the Clippers officialy on July 10.

Butler came to Phoenix during the sweltering summer to work out at US Airways Center and was already imparting some leadership upon the young players. Butler was one of five players who wore the new Suns uniforms when they were unveiled two weeks ago. But Butler clearly appreciates the chance to be about 20 miles from his hometown.

“Much respect for the organization of the Phx Suns#staytuned,” Butler tweeted Wednesday night.

It is not clear what the Suns have planned for Smith 25, and Kravtsov, 26, a Ukranian native like Suns first-round pick Alex Len. Some roster decisions are ahead for the Suns with 17 players under guaranteed contracts once Len signs. They can carry a maximum of 15 players on the regular-season roster but the futures of Beasley (expected waiver) and Channing Frye (resolution of heart issue follow-ups) remain in the air.

Good job starting this thread so fast, Damian. I wouldn't have checked NBA news till mid-day.

Another senseless trade by the Bucks. And for that matter, the Suns.

First you read, then you comprehend, THEN you post. See how that works?? :dunno:

So the Bucks did not want to take on Butler's salary to get Bledsoe (for JJ Redick earlier this summer). Now they go out and take on Butler's salary with nothing in return.

Easily the worst FO in the entire league. Just look at what they've done in the past few months:

-Traded Bogut for Monta. Let Monta walk for nothing in return but capspace.
-Traded a promising big man in Tobias Harris for JJ Redick.
-Traded JJ Redick for two second round picks.
-Signed OJ Mayo for a $24 mil deal over 3 years instead of keeping Monta.
-Signed Zaza Pachulia for a $16 mil deal over 3 years when they already have better bigs on the team.
-Traded Jennings for Brandon Knight
-Now acquire decrepit Caron in a senseless deal to use their remaining capspace.

Has any other team squandered all their capspace on such garbage ever? Wow. Seriously, I'd be pissed if I were a Bucks fan.

I expect that they need to learn. Sometimes the only way to learn is to be called out. Strenuus has posted nothing of substance in the 56+ posts.

I don't really understand what the Bucks are doing. Their realgm board is always so gloomy, glad we aren't Bucks fans.

Yeah. I comprehended it. They freed up cap room to get another mediocre player.

Now, your turn to comprehend that it's the suns we're talking about, then you can apologize for not realizing I always know what I'm talking about. I'll wait.

You'll be waiting a long time because you still don't understand. They freed up cap room to get RID of their headcase.

NBA players have to live in those towns from Oct-April. Damn, moving from PHX to MIL is as bad and extreme as it gets.

Time for a new wardrobe, Caron.

They should move to Seattle. In the 20 years I've been an NBA fan, they've rarely been even decent.

THIS FUCKING THREAD HAS 19 POSTS?????? AAAAAGGGGHHHHHHH!

did anyone else see the part about it being his lifelong dream to play for the bucks??!!?

They were last good under George Karl, who is now available. You listening, Bucks?
