I think we should try to pick him up. I know he's over the hill, but the guy can still score and it would be another veteran to help us in the playoffs.

I bet he goes to the Heat or Celtics to try to ride the bandwagon to a title.

Yeah, I was thinking the Celtics would be another possible destination for him, but he's from Florida so I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up with the Heat.

With them waiving Carter and G. Hill coming off the books, I wonder if they would want to dump more salary. If they were to say, trade Nash for Andre Miller and Batum, they could then choose not to extend Miller's contract and about another $8 mill. would come off their books. They already have Aaron Brooks at PG who could start and by picking up Batum, they get a young starting SF who is only a couple million. As for the Blazers, having Nash to run the point for a year and be a better outside shooter than Miller wouldn't be a bad thing. Anyway, it will be interesting to see what the Suns do in the next week or so.

Not sure I want to give up Batum for him, but maybe if we did Grant Hill would sign with us too, he could be great to have around for passing, defense, and encouraging Roy (if we're keeping him around).

Nash/Roy/Wallace/Aldridge/Oden?

The Suns and Carter agreed to put off the deadline for making his contract guaranteed to the start of the free-agency period. The deadline had been June 30, but the move puts off that decision until the uncertainty of the NBA labor situation is resolved.
Carter, part of a blockbuster trade with Orlando, is due to make $18.9 million in the coming season but the contract can be bought out for $4 million.
