ot: Westbrook out again

Time to cut down on the number of games. Let's do it, Silver.

No westbrick for our okc game? Shucks . . .

Portland catches a HUGE break. Westbrook out a month.

That is huge and could give them the division. Everything is going the Blazers way this year, still not sold on them winning a playoff series though. They better get home court if they have any shot, and this could go a long way into doing that.

That Harden trade keeps looking worse every year.

Woohoo! Finally breaks in our favor! He will miss all 3 remaining match ups with Portland AND frees up an All Star spot.

All 3 remaining games between Portland & OKC will come during Russell Westbrook's absence following knee surgery http://bit.ly/1cbxoGe

Once a player gets multiple injuries to the same body part in a season it becomes very concerning. Yes as Roy had, but you could compare him to Derrick Rose, Kobe, Amare, TMac, many other players.

Once Westbrook comes back he'll be very prone to another injury. He is a player that relies entirely on speed, athleticism, and quick maneuvers. He isn't a good player if he plays a slow methodical relaxed game. That will but a lot of stress on his body when he comes back.

Their other PG is pretty good too though.
Yeah, he actually concerns me a bit more than Westbrook. Well, I guess I should say if the game were in Portland I'd be more concerned about Jackson, but since it's in OKC I'd be more concerned about Westbrook. I get the impression that he's more successful in his hero-ball at home than on the road.
Either way, Jackson is going to slice us up. But he likely can't do it for 48 minutes!

Yes but now they will have to play Derrick Fisher the minutes Reggie was getting. Its not the dropoff from starter to backup that hurts the most, its the minutes the 3rd stringer has to play instead of the starter that really hurts a team.

I hate seeing guys get injured. But this does help us.

Yeah I agree. Reggie has played very well. (As has Lamb) So they are not going to suffer too much. But I feared their two PG lineup. Westbrook and Jackson together at the same time was really quick.

Charles Barkley jinxed the team. He did this to us when we had the Felton team, saying we were the team to beat. After a couple weeks saying it, we started to implode.

It really is a good thing that Charles doesn't like us

I feel like this team has meshed perfectly and the cards are finally falling in our favor. It's our year to win it all, written in stone in the heavens.

"Dont be scaaaaaaaaared" - Dr to Westbrook before going under the knife

On the contrary. Time to get rid of fully guaranteed contracts.

I'd prefer the modifications made in the last CBA over the way the NFL does it with huge signing bonuses. Pick your poison. How would your proposal look?

I think you should be able to cut any player from your team and only have to pay a third of his remaining contract. Still gives players tons of guarantee money. Gives teams the option of spending some of the money on more deserving players that can help the product on the floor.

In total it wouldn't save the owners anything, the players are guarenteed 50/50 split or revenue regardless of the amount of contracts out there. But it would allow teams to reconstruct rosters. It would help out those deserving players who are healthy and underpaid.

So for instance the Knicks could cut Amare and Bargnani in the summer for next season. They would only have to pay Amare $7.8 million and Bargnani $3.8 million. But it would save the Knicks $23.3 million of salary. It still partially penalizes teams for giving out dumb contracts, and it gives the players millions to not have to play basketball. It is really bad for the sport right now to have overpaid player on rosters that the team doesn't want there and the player only goes through the motions to collect a massive paycheck.

AND frees up an All Star spot.

I would rather face the thunder with Westbrook just to test where we are as a team

BUT it is nice that Lillard's all-star chances just went from something like 30% to 80%. A spot is more or less his to lose now.

Give me a few other reasons. We all know about that one.

In this instance, it's the only reason that matters. The players and owners both want big piles of money and are willing to accept the injuries and fatigue that go along with an 82 game schedule.

No worries, we faced them with Westbrook, result was a blazer win and a very sad Westbrook. In fact. Blazers have beat spurs, okc, pacers, clippers, and rockets, and only lost to rockets in that group. You can rest assured we are elite.
