he didn't offer them game tickets. he said that during game 6(if there is one) in dallas the families of nuggets players can sit in his personal suite or he can get them their own suite so they don't have to deal with the abuse from the crowd they dealt with in game 4. it had nothing to do with his apology.Furthermore, apologizing in a blog is even more pussy. He is just hoping it will go away with this half assed apology. He knows Kmart and his family isnt taking up on dinner or game tickets...its all a show for the media.
Cuban stalked across the court, blew off steam at the scorer's table, then headed down a hall leading away from the court. Martin's mother, Lydia Moore, was wearing a Nuggets jersey and was standing near the base of the section he walked past, clearly in his view.
I don't see anything wrong with what Cuban did.
It's not like he sought out Martin's mother. He saw her as he was leaving the floor and he made a comment. I could think of worse things to say to someone about their son, and "punk" doesn't even make the list.
With that said, Martin's reply is waaaaaay worse. He verbally threatened Cuban, used a homophobic slur, and did it all while walking off the court.
cuban insulted kmart, not kmart's family. saying that kmart is a thug doesn't say anything about his mother. someone can be a thug on their own without bad parenting(especially when we're talking about a 31 year old man).I do. He crossed a line. He insulted someone's family. In particular, his mother. By calling her son a punk/thug to her face, his is calling her bad parent. He had no right to disrespect her like that. If he he a problem with K-Mart, he should take it up with K-Mart, not his mother. It's inappropriate, rude and cowardly. To me, it shows me Mark Cuban's mom didn't exactly do a good job teaching her son manners and acceptable social behavior.

inappropriate and rude? sure. there was no reason for cuban's actions. should this have been a big deal? no. and nothing about it is cowardly.
i'm sure at the time mark cuban would have had no problem letting kmart know that he's a thug.I actually find it incredibly cowardly. If Cuban has an issue with Kenyon Martin, he should take it up with Kenyon Martin directly, not Kenyon Martin's mother. Seriously, if you had a problem with a co-worker, would confront them directly, our would you tell their mommy.
that paragraph is garbage. cuban can apologize through the blog not because he expects kmart's mother to read it but because after the media story that was already made of it, the apology will get to her. there's nothing arrogant or self important about it.I also think apologizing through is blog shows what an arrogant, self-important little prick Cuban is. Does he actually think Kenyon Martin's mother reads that self-absorbed whine fest? The world doesn't revolve around Mark Cuban and his blog. I'm sure posting his "apology" on his blog drove up traffic to his site, which was most likely the real goal of posting it there in the first place. More hits to puff up his already overinflated ego. If his apology would have been sincere, he would have addressed Martin's mother directly, not the entire blogosphere. It's just more, hey-look-at-me behavior from the spoiled, self-centered rich kid.
So what?
I get the fact it's his perferred way of communicating, but in addition to a public apology, he needs to have a sit down with KM and even take the beat down if necessary.
I even think his comments went so far as to incite some of the stuff that happened last night.
Cuban has a lot to answer to for all this.
huh? While coach/GM at Dallas (who'd been wallowing sub 500 forever prior to him) didn't he trade Tractor Traylor for Dirk and Pat Garrity for Steve Nash? They didn't win a championship, but taking a team from pathetic to regular contender doesn't seem like fucking up a situation to me. Nash eventually left for bigger money in Phoenix but the Mavs have remained a playoff club, even post DN.Please - Don Nelson?
Don Nelson fucked up every situation he was in - Mark Cuban or not (See GSW this year).
Kenyon does this with a huge camera right in his face while Cuban is on the other end of the court and probably out of earshot. Later he says that he doesn't conduct his business through the media like Cuban and is more of a face to face kind of guy. I can't say I'm much of a fan of KM's game or how he conducts himself. What a coward. He said it as he was walking away. That poor Mark Cuban. Kenyon martin owes him a public apology! NOW!
Fuck Kenyon Martin. He is a thug. He's a piece of shit. And he shows his class there. Thanks for that video.

The W's were also pathetic when he arrived for his 2nd stint with them going 12 years without a playoff appearance... which was also a Nelson coached team. Without a decent frontcourt, they made an unlikely playoff run in 2007 but have been targeting young Bigs since. While they have taken a step back of late (especially last year when they were ravaged by injury) I mostly like the personnel moves they've made especially Anthony Randolph who flashed considerable promise despite being the youngest player in the league. If they fare better with their collective health next season, I could easily see their young roster making the playoffs again.
I'm not a huge Nellie guy or anything, but dude is a lock for the HOF as a coach. He's never won it all, but many times he's managed to win with lessor players/talent.
Nellie is a less successful version of Larry Brown - he does great for a short time and then finds a way to fuck it up. Simple as that.
I'm not sure how he threw Mullin under the bus. Popular sentiment here by the Bay is that W's team president Robert Rowell has done this over consistent clashes in the club's direction/moves.Dude is a lock to HOF - I also do not disagree with your assessment of him doing great stuff for bad teams - but he always goes on after that and screws it up. This is just a reasonable assessment of him - he did manage to get into fights with Cuban when he was there, he did manage to throw Mullin that built the team that he was so successful with in GSW under the bus.
again, I wouldn't characterize the situation he left the Mavs in as fucked up, nor would I say that about the W's current situation. The situation when he left the W's in the first time was a complete mess, but that was more on the Warrior's idiot owner Chris Cohan then Nelson who was the public fall guy. It was Cohan who lowballed Chris Weber after he achieved an out in his contract following his rookie year, daring him to take a series of minimum contracts with another club. The Richmond for rookie Billy Owens trade was on GM Nelson, but at the time I thought it was a reasonable roll of the dice. Mullin was fading physically and Warriors needed another forward. They had too many guards and the highly touted Owens consistent injuries couldn't have been predicted.Nellie is a less successful version of Larry Brown - he does great for a short time and then finds a way to fuck it up. Simple as that.
Why does Cuban have to apologize for accurately describing Kenyon Martin to his mother?
I would change this, if I may, to this:
Why does Cuban have to apologize for accurately describing Kenyon Martin('s behavior) to (the woman who raised him)?
Why does Cuban have to apologize for accurately describing Kenyon Martin to his mother?
What was Martin's mother doing on the floor? That I don't understand, unless she was trying to drag her punk son off of the floor as he was taunting the Dallas players and (apparently) staff.
I find it a bit difficult to believe that Cuban picked Punk Mama out of the crowd, and singled her out with an insult to her son. I wonder what she said to him first?
Because it was rude, inappropriate and cowardly. He doesn't have to apologize, but he should. His beef was with Martin, not his mother. If you have a problem with a co-worker, do you confront them directly, or do you shout insults at their mother?
Two wrongs don't make a right. Both parties are acting childish. Cuban should have never insulted Martin's mother, and Martin's response has been no better (perhaps he should have shouted at Cuban's mom. "You're son is a pussy").

Now you're just making things up, which does not help your "argument".
Cuban insulted Martin's mother who was in the stands near the tunnel that leads to the Mavs locker room. She was not on the court, and she was not "trying to drag her punk son off of the floor as he was taunting the Dallas players".
Feel free to share your opinions about Martin and his character, but please try to stick to the facts and not fabricate things out of thin air. It just confuses the issue.

I don't have an argument, other than that Martin has always been a punk. I'd say calling some one a "##$#$ fat pig" to their face is a worse offense than correctly calling someone a punk to their mother, but then again, I don't have an irrational bias against Mark Cuban, who by the way did apologize, regardless of forum.
I'm not defending Martin or his actions before, during or after this whole "incident". As I have said, two wrongs don't make a right. Regardless of Martin's behaviour, it doesn't make Cuban shouting an insult at Martin's mother appropriate or acceptable.
My so-called bias against Cuban is not irrational. I find a grown man yelling an insult at another grown man's mother to be unacceptable, childish and cowardly. If Mark Cuban has an issue with Kenyon Martin, he should take it up with Kenyon Martin - not his mother.
