OT: What Shaq said to Lopez

Are you kidding? The 80's were notorious for their bad defenses and frenetically fast pace. Sure a hard foul, wasn't considered hard today but shouldn't the league try and protect the players? If not we'd still have this going on.

*video*

There wasn't even a flagrant or ejection given. And we'd still probably have the enforcer position with guys like Charles Oakley still running around.

Everything you just said is the exact reason why the game was better then, before Stern went senile and the Euros showed up and began operation flop-flop.

???
MJ's greatest statistical season was actually 87-88 where he had a PER of 31.7.
oops... you're right
According to PER, Lebron is having a better season than MJ, with a PER of 31.73. However, I'm not a believer of one statistical metric being the end all measurement for a player's worth. Especially when it doesn't take into account winning, clutchness, or defense.
has anyone argued that it was? I thought I was pretty clear that I was just providing a single common metric where they were comparable... or in the same neighborhood.

I wouldn't bring stuff like winning into the conversation as it's a team game and MJ's teammates >>> LJ's teammates, most notably PIP. On D, while MJ was of course tremendous, LeBron is being talked about as a DPOY candidate this year so he isn't too shabby either.

btw... my relaying of LJ's 31.6 is current according to this link

The word Fusuy is more like an inside joke. On this other board I go to, there is a user named FUSUYBALLER, he would often come up with complex and detailed argument, but his factual information regarding stats, were always wrong. They would either be fabricated or were being exaggerated. Now whenever I see someone make a statistical claim that is incorrect, I always type FUSUY.

Here is the link I look at when regarding PER

I thought you were going to make the argument that Lebron James was better solely around PER. I was mistaken.

I thought it was going to be an acronym, and wasn't too excited about how it started.

nah, things like individual GOAT are impossible to really prove... too many factors like different teammates, eras, and position to truly sort things out. I think it's sort of funny how heated some get over this particular common argument as if no one can reasonably disagree with them.
