Supposedly his father is sick. But somebody pointed out that Roddy B's father has just DIED and he's back with the team. Apparently Orlando was "abuzz" about Odom. But also apparently he hasn't asked to be traded or anything. But if Dallas just wants to unload him...

He's a headcase. He's a talent that never lived up to his potential. He got traded and couldn't handle it and has played below Felton level.

There are very few players I can recall who have played so far below their talent level as Odom.

If NJ gets Howard that would be a better fit for him than the Knicks. I think he would be a train wreck on the Knicks.

Well, I'm not sure how strong that comparison is. I, personally, would be more likely to take time off if someone I loved was seriously ill than if they had died. You can still spend time with them while they're alive...once they're dead, it kinda seems too late to take the time off.
