I mean, they're pretty awful. Can barely beat Sixers, can't score 70 against OKC, lose to Lakers. Yes, they're 9-3 right now. They'll lose to Dallas. That's 9-4 and then the Knicks and Kings. They're losses too. So at 9-6, they'll be in trouble with a much more difficult schedule coming up. With teams like Sacramento and NO on the upswing, I just don't see how Houston makes the playoffs. Too much competition. Thoughts?

As much as I would relish that moment I just don't see it happening. Although I will admit I'm not sure how they are doing it. Gotta be the schedule to have that good of a defense eff

KS your jinxing ability is still in top form. You said the Clippers were awful a few days ago and they go out on the road and get well. Watch for the Rockets to do the same.

The Clippers ARE awful and have not gotten well. Anyone can sweep Florida like that. When it matters, they are an awful team to the core. Chris Paul and Blake Griffin are the most overrated players at their positions. I don't consider either of them to be top 5.

Before you know it, the Rockets will be 9-73!

And his OKC thread, then NBA TV said that Durant and Westbrook may start playing next week because their healing well

Chris Paul is a stud, sorry

who would you put, in their current state (no rose 'if healthy' stuff) above paul?

More like a dud. Ten years in the league and he's won three playoff series. Lillard is already a third of the way there in 2 seasons.

Weird how you tried arguing the Anthony Davis lack of playoff is a team concept, yet here you are using individual responsibility for this argument.

Eric, sometimes I really can't tell if you're joking or trolling.

In no particular order..

Lillard
Curry
Parker
Wall
Westbrook
Conley

And maybe...
Irving
Lowry

by the end you were just saying names. you hate westbrook more than you hate paul, but he's above him here?

no to lowry or irving. parker (in current state, my criteria) is close, but i'd take paul. same with curry.

paul is a top 5 pg, and there is literally no argument whatsoever.

When have I ever said I hate Westbrook more than Paul? Westbroom choked against us but I never said I hated him more than Paul. Paul is awful. He hides his fouls so refs can't see them on defense and flops on offense.

CP3 is one of the best Point Guards to ever play the game. That Clippers without question would still be in the Lotto without him.
Not his fault Griffin/Jordan lack fundamentals so much they can't help him carry a team in the playoffs.
Lob city.. it's still two points go jump on a car again.
His fault for re-signing there.. But not his fault for expecting those two to improve and Develop into go to players in the playoffs.

Houston might make the playoffs because of their easy starting schedule. But they won't advance.

I would love to see the Rockets play the Pelicans in the first round in any situation, but I'm not sure this Rockets team can win enough to make it into the playoffs this year. We need to wait and see what they look like after at least 1 game vs every western contender.

They would realize how big a mistake they made by getting rid of front court depth...what the hell were they thinking? Dynasties are built on a foundation of solid bigs, it's been that way as far as you look back!

Clippers looked great without Chris Paul for 18 games last year. Blake Griffin played like an MVP while Paul was out. Neither player is as good when they play together. It's not a good match.

Eric, these need to stop

You're not in charge, buddy. This was an honest question and I backed up my thoughts with evidence. Their record is not a good reflection of how good they are this season. I've watched them all year. They aren't good. Most experts picked them to finish 8th this season. With Sacramento surprising people, it might not be easy for Houston to coast in. What do you think? Is Houston a playoff team this year?

Where I get confused is we haven't even played a full month or 20 games... evidence or not there's still wayyyyyy too much time to make any factual statements.

and this is coming from someone that would love nothing more than to see the rockets miss the playoffs.

The Rockets record is fool's gold. Their Strength of Schedule entering the game tonight was the lowest in the league, by far at .389. That's a ridiculously easy schedule. By comparsion, the Blazers SOS so far is 4th in the league at .542, but we have the same 9-3 record as they do.

They just has a stretch where they made 2 of 22 shots and keep missing lay up after lay up and are shooting .350 for the game. They flat out suck - with, or without Dwight.

Prior to tonight's brickfest, they were shooting .424 FG% as a team - 27th in the league. That's NOT the mark of a playoff team, especially not in the Western Conference this year.

We don't know the answer til April but that doesn't mean we can't talk about it now. I mean, should we close the forum and not talk about anything til March?
