Okay but there needs to be a set rule before we start banning or suspending people. Something that I can explain to everyone and teach to staff. What exactly would that rule be? If you see characters instead of letters you should assume the worst possible word based on the number of characters posted?

And seriously, I very much appreciate you bring this up to me and this conversation we're having. I just don't feel comfortable suspending or banning people for what something might or could be.

I try to make things as black and white as possible. Just tonight in one of the threads @Strenuus called @SportsAndWhine a son of a bitch. I knew he was kidding and no malice or insult was intended but it did violate the personal insult rule. So I edited the post. Not because @Strenuus did anything wrong but because as some have mentioned on here I can't selectively enforce the personal insult rule. If I were to suspend @Sinobas over the worst I can assume he meant by posting random characters then I would have to make that same assumption about all posts using random characters.

Being perfectly open about this @Sinobas has used the n word before in posts and has been warned by both myself and Denny that this is not acceptable. Because of that I am looking at this very closely and have given it careful consideration. Even using "deductive reasoning" I just don't feel there is enough there to suspend him.

@Sinobas is JetBlack.

You gotta be kidding me.

There are many 6 letter words he could've meant instead of the one with origins in the 16th century.
I however won't type those words as I'm remembering my grandmother slapping me into next Sunday for saying them in front of her as a child.

Judging someone for what could be in their mind is a slippery slope.

I read the original post. I thought nothing of it and was really confused as to why it became a controversy. I personally would not assume #$@#$ meant the worst possible thing it could mean, and punish accordingly. I myself have used characters similar to #$@#$ as a generic swear. If #$@#$ is that bad, add it to the banned words list.

But in an ideal community, I would like to see racists own up to it and apologize.

Racists have nothing to apologize for. And if they did apologize, you couldn't take it seriously because no one should apologize for their belief system.

They will never change. They will always be racist. It is their constitutional right.

It is however, our constitutional right to call them out. Just continue to do this. White people hate being called racist. So much they will blame you for their own racism.

Yeh, I guess you are right. And I agree people need to call them out. Just being aware of racism hopefully tempers it some. I am aware that I might have a streak of racism in myself; otherwise how did I realize so quickly what he was doing? Hopefully being self-aware keeps me from being an asshole.

Being aware of racism and calling it out doesn't make you racist. It makes you empathetic.

Even if someone is racist, it is not reasonable to automatically assume that they are saying or thinking something racist every time they have an opportunity to do so.

Let’s test this theory out shall we....... I think you know how I think after all these years....... what am I thinking about your sister right now?

You can assume that I'm a species'ist and am always thinking bad things about you humans.

Speaking of tagging somebody’s name on here. I never get notifications when I am like you do on twitter for example. I’ll just randomly see my name in read as I am reading a thread.

Am I doing something wrong or is their a setting for that?

That you would never be able to satisfy her, even if she were willing to give you the time of day?

I don't know what happens on twitter, because I don't have a twitter account.
But if I'm currently logged into s2, I will get an alert at the bottom of the screen if someone tags/likes/quotes/posts after a post I made.
Also there is an 'alert' tab that shows you stuff stuff as well near your user name at the top of the website.

Ya, I see the alerts for LIKES (because I receive so many of them).....but nothing for tagging. I’ll check my settings.

How about asking Sinobas what word he was actually saying and why it needed to be $&#*% instead of typed out?

If the word he says makes sense in the sentence and it warrants all the *%$#& then he shouldn't be suspended but if it doesn't and comes off as convoluted then you should suspend him cause he's lying.
Ok, I'll tell you want the word was:

*drumroll*.........(scroll down)

The word was $#%#@@@:bgrin:
