I agree. I hate this all around. Smith just coached the huskies as oc for awhile and grew up loving usc. He is a sentimental kind of guy.

I would assume at this point Apple has withdrawn their media contract offer

and it seems almost certain that Arizona/ASU/Utah will be headed to the Big-12

leaving Stanford/Cal/OSU/WSU as a Pac-4. Lots of chatter that Stanford might go independent, but even if they don't, there doesn't seem to be any path for those teams other than joining the MWC.

Again... if Oregon's goal is to make the playoff with an inferior roster, resources for coaches/recruiting, and experience against quality competition, then they made a bad choice.

If Oregon's goal is to increase their chance of competiting when they do make the playoffs, the choice to move to the BigTen is a no-brainer.

do you think that OSU/WSU didn't approach the Big-12 to see if they could gain entry? The Pac-12 was dying and every school ended up looking out for themselves. Some just had better options
