Exactly what about it is scary? She's a religious person, cheering on the troops. Maybe cheering on the troops is scary, if your agenda is to see us lose for political gain (the WWW site's agenda).

The bumper sticker, Lord. Protect me from your followers. comes to mind.

Palin's popularity rating in the state is 80%. Given that, I'd take this as one of the remaining 20%.

The 80% says a lot more than this person's one opinion.

80% approval rating in Alaska for SP means even less than the roughly 2/3 of people in Utah who voted for W.

The earmark thing is kind of funny. People seem to think it's extra money that congress is spending, like pork. It's quite different. Once they've agreed on the amount to be spent, in a bill, they use earmarks to direct some portion of the money to a specific pet project. They could obviously spend less and eliminate the earmarks in some cases, but it's a little absurd to make it into some sort of campaign issue.

Thus, Palin refused to build the bridge to nowhere as earmarked, but the money was given to Alaska anyway, since it was authorized in the spending bill. I'm not sure how the legality of refusing an earmark works.
