Paschall already better than Collins

So Alec Burks had 28/8 in 31 minutes last night. Is he better than CJ now?
Not a better player.

But a strong argument can be had that Burks is better value on his contract. Burks makes <10% of what CJ does - while being at least 50% of the player.

I have problems with the “Value to Contract” argument. CJ didn’t do anything wrong Signing a contract that was offered him. He loves it here. Wants to play for this team and these fans. His value is more than a bargaining chip for what his contract is.

Dame, yes.

CJ, not even close.

Well, I’d take Paschall 8 days of the week. He’s going to be a star in this league, while Zach is always going to be a journeyman.
No he's not ugh... overreaction much.

I can pretty much guarantee that if CJ McCollum decided he no longer wanted to be on the Blazers and asked to be traded there would be multiple teams in line to get him. It would be huge news across the league and there would be little talk about value to contact issues.

Let's hope he does then.

Paschall may not be a "star", but I'd bet he is more than just a product of circumstances.

I have to disagree. It is very rare that contract issues don't play a big role in trades. That is the way the league wants it.

I have a feeling if the Warriors circumstances weren’t what they are, this kid wouldn’t have even played yet.

Contract issues always play a part but that isn’t what we are discussing.

Or he's JJ Hickson playing for a job with his new team and people will want to trade Lamarcus and keep him only to see him playing in China two years down the road...Nic Stauskas had 24 pts opening night with the Blazers....early production more often than not, fades away once teams actually scout these guys

:dunno: And some turn into solid (not great) NBA players. There is a lot of middle ground between "future all-star" and "flash in the pan."

Be honest: After you watched Jake Layman's debut against the Warriors, did you think he was going to be the next Klay Thompson?
That was one game. Paschall has had several good games to start the season.

Probably not, but so what? He’s playing, and he’s playing damn well.

I'm sure he has....my point is he might be a flash in the pan...he hasn't done this for a season yet
