Few hrs after processing this, still not getting the point. This is a really expensive signing for guy who cannot play anymore. A similar signing coulda been made in March. Confused about what Neil is doing-- can anyone spin this for me?

A mentor for Zach maybe? That's my guess. It feels like when the team got Chris Kaman. In spot minutes he can do ok, but don't expect much...but really just as a vet for the younger players to lean on (Zach, Anfernee, Nasir, Skai).

Kaman could play tho. Gasol is one ankle turn away from the end of his career.

I'm happy to see anyone from here go on to bigger and better things. The dude grinded it out and got a gig on Comcast. Not bad. I hope @BonesJones does something similar. I also hope that you have greater success in whatever you what to be or attain. You're a good dude and deserve it.

Who are we even talking about? And did dude really start here? Ain’t a lot of folks, with talent, that started here...

Kaman had a decent 1st year in Portland, but his 2nd year it was obviously more as an assistant coach role.

Gasol is just 1 season away from averaging 10 points and 8 boards in 24 minutes. That's not to say last season was an aberration. He might be in the Caldwell Jones playing for Portland stage of his career. But as I said, I think he's more of a mentor role than anything. I'm not too worried about him averaging more than 8 minutes a night for about 55 games this year. If he can help Zach expand his game (modeling it after Gasol would be smart, imho), all the better.

What is the bones kid trying to do? Get his own show?

Someone said why should i care about what this person has to say from the vid clip up above -- this is what a forum is for or anything that gives a voice to people -- when i post i realize 99% might not give a damn what i say but i choose to say my peace and see what comes of it good or bad or maybe nothing but this is why we live in a great country it's called freedom of expression / speech.
Why can’t I see this post?

He will contribute WAAAAY more than Tolliver. That’s not saying much, but I’ll be glad to see Pau on the court over Anthony.

Then maybe hire an assistant coach and use the spot and luxury tax $ on someone who can help us on the floor?

How many assistant coaches out there have the talent and knowledge of the game as Gasol? And what assistant out there would be a good model for Zach to base his game on?

And if we're really concerned about the 14th and 15th man on this roster...

One of them was big man depth which we just filled.
not to belabor the point, but we have 4 centers (hassan, gasol, zach, and skal), 4 SFs (hood, baze, mario, and little), and tolliver as our lone PF.

Zach at PF is a complete question mark for me.

my concern is more opportunity cost. still some holes on the roster

I'm not sure there's much of a player at the #14 and #15 spot that the team could have signed, that would've made a world of difference.

The game has really moved away from typical PF's though.
