Exactly as that statement seems to be coming out of left field. If he wanted him gone, he would have likely been gone.
I thought it was reported that Paul wanted him gone, but Damian and Neil talked him into giving him another year.

.... link?

:dunno:

As usual, grain of salt.

Ownership came close to firing Terry Stotts, several sources say. Teams with head-coaching vacancies, including Phoenix, began engaging third parties about Stotts' potential interest in their jobs, sources say.

But the Blazers didn't break. Lillard fought for Stotts. "I was asked what I thought, and I just said I love him as a coach," Lillard says. "We all love him." (They show it, too. When Stotts moved into third place on Portland's all-time win list last season, CJ McCollum bought him an $1,800 bottle of Bordeaux.)

Neil Olshey, the team's GM, fought even harder. They haven't always seen eye-to-eye, but entering their seventh year together, Stotts and Olshey have developed an understanding: Olshey stays away from players who don't fit Stotts' style, and Stotts coaches what he gets. The players will never see them at odds in any serious, prolonged way. There is no taking sides in Portland because there are no sides at the highest levels.

OK, see the point. The expression "unmarked grave" is often associated with abandonment or dire circumstances (Mozart died indigent and was buried in an unmarked pauper's grave, think of wars, famines, epidemics, genocide and victims in unmarked graves) it just gave me a bit of a shock. I guess the idea of smashing someone's tombstone for a souvenir is so out of my consciousness I didn't think of it.

I liked this post but... You got a link to that? I never heard anything like this.
Julius hooked it up.

I had read that article when it first came out and took it with a grain of salt back then. Seemed like a lot of speculation which is what we often get now days.

I also take the story with a grain of salt. Not because it is speculation, but because I suspect Olshey was himself the source. The whole "Stotts and Olshey are in lock step" narrative sounds like corporate propaganda. I seriously doubt both Vonleh and Davis would be gone if Stotts had any say in the matter. It is also clear Stotts has zero faith in Simons and Trent and that their development is not on his priority list.

Well, you have a much more vivid imagination than myself, lol. As for Trent and Simmons, they are both extremely young and are developing by learning the NBA game. Look at Steve Nash's first year in the league and that was after having a 4 YEAR outstanding college career (was fortunate to see him play a couple times against my Pilots) and he turned out pretty good.
