Its crazy how little people know about the best owner in the NBA. The scouting department sends Paul tapes on all the players they are interested in. They been doing this forever, Paul studies the players and is also in the war room on draft day every year. People should be thankful he cares so much (i am), he deeply wants a championship.

Yet he let's his personal grudges get in the way, and he motivates by fear. What a terrible place to work. No wonder he turns and burns through so many people. Remember Tod Leweicke? Me neither, but he was once the future of Vulcan.

With all the words you try to label PA with like vile and petty, you really haven't figured him out or know him at all.

If PA really wanted to be GM . . . he would be the GM. You don't get that by now?

He is basically the GM. You don't get that by now?

History tells us he's going about it the wrong way. We haven't been to the Finals since 1992, which was Allen's fourth year of ownership. The team already had it's core (sans Buck) on the roster when he took ownership. We haven't won a playoff series in 11 years, being bounced in the first round in 13 of 18 post-seasons since his purchase of the team.

If a hard cap is implemented and Allen's wealth and willingness to spend is neutralized, would he still be a considered good owner?

As you like to say: link?

If PA wants to be GM, he will be. he doesn't need to pretend anything.

Only thing I get is you are making blanket accusations/insults about PA and making a bunch of aasumptions of what is going on in the front office when you ahve no idea. Yet you always want links from other people?

It depends on how you measure "good" and "bad" in terms of owners. Some fans want the owner to appear to care about winning as much as they do. Some fans want to see what they consider good process in building the organization. Some fans just want to see success, measured in playoff wins and titles. I am, of course, talking about main priority, as most fans want a combination of things. This is why arguments over whether an owner is good or bad are usually fruitless...people are using different (sometimes vastly different) measures, and the answer changes based on the measure.

You dont seem to know what your talking about, Tod Leiweke worked for Paul for a long time and paul was very sad to see him go but Tod wanted to work in the NHL and became Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and part owner of theTampa Bay Lightning..

Leiweke joined the Seahawks in 2003. In 2005, the team advanced to Super Bowl XL, losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In 2007, he became acting president of the Trail Blazers, replacing Steve Patterson. Vulcan Sports and Entertainment was created at that time. Leiweke served as acting president until June 20 of that year, when the team named Larry Miller to be its president.
Leiweke was the key deciding factor in the firing of former Seattle Seahawks coach Jim Mora Jr. in January of 2010, And also was the main benefactor in the hiring of USC coach Pete Carroll.

Leiweke not only grew the Seahawks into the Cadillac of the city's sports scene, he then repaired the relationship between Allen's Trail Blazers and the city of Portland and ushered the Seattle Sounders FC into Major League Soccer.

On Monday, he walked away from the triple-crown sports entity to become the CEO and minority owner of the NHL's Tampa Bay Lightning.

"You get to a point in your life where sort of a dream comes true," Leiweke said.

Fitting that Leiweke was sitting in a room on the ground floor of the Seahawks' headquarters when he said that. After all, he was one of the biggest reasons that building exists in Renton.

Leiweke was a veritable cornerstone for Allen's Vulcan Sports and Entertainment division.

"I'm sorry to see him go, but I know hockey is his first love," Allen said in a statement announcing Leiweke's departure.

Just STFU, you seem to talk shit about PA without any knowledge of the guy.

yeah, I was going to say that bringing up Leiweke isn't the way to prove PA sucks. I'm not saying that there aren't ways....just that Leiweke and the Seahawks aren't two of them.

It makes ya wonder if the "source" that leaked the Kemba Walker info was KP.

So does Dan Snyder. Desire and money can only get you so far. Eventually you have to take the advice of Harry Callahan: "A man's got to know his limitations."

Can I get an "amen"!

Why are the Mavs in the finals while the Blazers are (barely) treading water? Could it be that Cuban - for all his passion and pushiness, has learned to hire good people and let them do their jobs?

You know what irritates me?

If Paul Allen had NOT said anything about the KP rumors, he'd be blasted by the same people who are now blasting him for saying something.

I don't need to defend him, he can afford to hire his own lawyers. It's just that for a segment here, EVERYTHING the Blazers do is wrong, so if he talks he's bad, if he's silent he's bad.

Some people like to argue just for the sake of arguing. They really don't care what side of the issue they choose, as long as they can bait someone into choosing the opposing view. Unfortunately, people who suffer this affliction tend to be very obsessive, determined and prolific. Baiting others into long, drawn out arguments seems to be vital to their very existence, or at the very least, their extremely fragile self-esteem. Our most prolific board troll was finally banned for admitting he deliberately baited other posters, and now his heir apparent regularly does the exact same thing.

Fortunately, there is a simple solution - the ignore feature. While these trolls and master baiters may be prolific, there are very few of them and they are easily identified. So, just put them on ignore where they belong and I think you will find this board a much more enjoyable, positive place.

Ain't nobody in the NBA bigger than me
That’s Like an Apple exec trying to be smarter than me
That’s Like a Darius saying he works harder than me
That’s Like Mark Cuban having more rings than me
That’s like a rookie having more cars and things than me
That’s like you saying to yourself that your better than me
That’s like Pritchard saying to himself he’s better than me

KayPee in the futha-muckin' house!
Let go the mike, Uncle Paul, Imma 'bout to retort
you see, while you sittin' there in some balmy French port
the rest of us are back home trying to scout out these kids
You know, those of us who actually understand this whole biz?

We’re trying to go and scout which ones’ll make the best pros
All you’re doing is getting shot down by all sorts of French hoes
Euro Hoes, Bimbos, chicks I’ve done then let go
I asked Marlene ‘bout her friends--she says “for Allen? Hell, no!”

Ooh, you got fancy boats and planes and even a sub
And you know that all those billions just can’t buy you no love
‘Cept maybe for the girls who just smile and go fake it
buy a big-ass ring and even Vanessa Bryant won’t take it

Running the draft, it’s a craft, it’s a science plus art
All your meddlin’ does is mess it up, tips over the cart
Gimme the reins, gimme room, let me run all these ploys
I’ll do it again, set you up with Aldridge, Oden and Roy

But that wasn’t good enough for you, you meddlin’ prick
You brought in Larry Miller, and like a chick with a dick
You didn’t know which way to turn, didn’t know where to go
Listening to Hat Guy and Kolde? Stupid like Carrot Top’s fro.

Take yo' billions Uncle Paul, they can’t buy you jack shit
Of the stuff that’s important, that the champs all roll with
The big rings, the fat kandi all the trophy-winners rock
You know, the bling Bill Russell hoards (even got one for his cock)

I’ll be seeing you around one day, at some NBA gig
One of those guys around the league who’ll keep dancing the jig
Every year as your team goes down in flames once again
“But we made the playoffs!” Great, here’s your blue ribbon, kid.

We’re here at the end now—and now I’ll answer your rhyme
Your ass is extra virgin like olive oil – go steal another lame line.

That's ridiculous. It wouldn't have even registered on my radar had Allen not commented on a silly rumor. It should be obvious from my posts why I think it was petty of him to respond. Had he stayed silent, like he does the rest of the time, this thread wouldn't even exist.

Unless you thought somebody would start a "Paul Allen Doesn't Speak: Doesn't Diss KP" thread, which seems like a rather dumb assumption.

Actually, I'm consistent on my views of Paul Allen and his meddling, and have been over the period of 12 years. In fact, other than learning to somewhat accept Andre Miller and his limitations, I'm rather predictable as to which side of a debate I'll join. So, if you were yet again passive-agressively baiting me through a third-party, you're wrong, as my posting history will show.

What an idiotic post.
