Paul George to OKC

Again, they don't have that much. If RW and PG leave, they become a bottom 5 team.

They would have been anyway if Westbrook left. Now, at least if he leaves, they won't be saddled with Olidipo's bad contract, will have a shit load of cap space and all of their draft picks.

Yeah, if they lose their best player they will have to rebuild, but unlike the Nets, they will have all of their draft picks and a ton of cap space to begin rebuilding.

I really don't see any downside. I don't think this trade will negatively impact Westbrook's decision. If anything being relevant for a year may convince him management is serious about winning.

Plus, OKC has the ability to offer him a super duper max contract in the $220 million range, That's about $75 to $80 million more than the Lakers, or anyone else will be able to offer him.

I got no love for OKC but that is just fucking brutal.

While the odds may be high that PG13 leaves, I really don't see Westbrook leaving.

OKC has the ability to make him the highest paid player in the league (as of today) at about $220 million. No one else can come close to that (about $140 million). I don't think it's really about the dollars I think it's about ego. If he leaves and signs with the Lakers next summer, by then, there will probably be a couple dozen players making > $140 million. Do you really think Russell Westbrook would settle for Mike Conley money when he could be the highest paid player in the league?

He could always live in Malibu in the off-season. I agree that he'd probably want to live there even during the season when not on the road, but if he and Westbrook click and the Thunder do something impressive like make it to the conference finals, I could imagine him deciding that's better than being first-round fodder in LA.

I think the chances of that are very low, just not zero.
Yeah, NBA players get like 3-4 months of offseason at least so he could get enough time off to enjoy California's best. During regular season you get feck all time to enjoy life.

By KP's own admission, and all parties around the team, KP wanted to stay on for the draft.

And he got his last laugh by dumping Luke Babbitt on us.
That's a good point. I do remember that he said he wanted to stay on for the draft now that you mention it.

Remember when Pritchard said he was waiting on the best deal and that he was in no hurry? this was definitely an emotional decision, Boston had the best offer, Portland probably had a pretty good one too but he settled for Oladipo and Sabonis like what the fuck. This is what you waited two weeks for?!?!

Im sure others mentioned this, but oladip went to the university of indiana, so this is probably a tad bit easier to sell to the fan base.

Kinda like how everyone here had a boner for the oregon players even though its unlikely they do shit in the nba.

Our big 4 would have been legit! KP is such a hater

Boom.... Who was debating with me about this?

Fuck you KP....

Well, Minstrel was debating whether or not Portland really offered more than OKC offered. To me, this is clearly better than what OKC offered. And Boston offered more. So the perception that KP was worried about where PG ended or didn't want to deal with Portland seems like a legit thing.

I was asking if anyone had seen actual details reported before I agreed that Pritchard was making his decisions based on pettiness or emotion. I never said Pritchard wasn't doing either of those things (in fact, I said it wouldn't shock me if he was). I just wasn't willing to take Quick's word on it. Now that there are some details, it seems pretty clear Pritchard turned down much better offers. So yeah, emotional and/or petty and/or dumb.

Pritchard was also cut by the Celtics back in the day. Dude is so beta lolll.

A deleted tweet from Kevin Pritchard's daughter on draft night:

The first tweet is in response to Jason Quick's tweet that "Blazers offer for Paul George doesn't shake the needle."
