Exclusive Paul George to the Clippers

It sucks for fans that a major star can just go in, ask to be traded, and it's done. And that it happens to only small market teams makes it worse. The only exception in recent memory that comes close is that Porzingis wasn't happy in New York, but....the Knicks.

I don't see how this Lakers team makes the playoffs in the West. Like I have argued before, BronBron can't play 50 games. AD can't play 50 games.
Now, let's see how Danny Green, Rondo, Dudley and Kuzma win 15 games by themselves ... in the West.
Their coach will be fired by the Allstar break. And Tye Lue installed ... or they will just trade LeBron to the Heat ... or something.

...

So uh..

No one has a problem with Kawhi meeting with PG in LA and convincing him to request a trade?

Presti turned Ibaka into 6 1st round picks, and 2 pick swaps. Unsane.

Paul George goes to the Lakers because of.....Anfernee Simons.

If Ant doesn't go nuclear on the Kings, Dame never gets the chance to dagger them from 30'.

Way to go Rook!

Fucking A. When is it going to be OUR turn? We've done everything right with the exception of one season of idiotic contracts. We built a team around a guy who loves the city and has zero character issues, we got a good Center who is loved by all, and we've been pretty good with spending money and okay at drafting. So when the fuck does the light of Basketball Jesus shine upon thee? Because I'm fucking sick of hearing about LA, Kahwi, LeBron, and all the rest of those popular cock suckers who ring chase and fuck off when the going gets tough.

Am I wrong?
Portland has done everything right since drafting Dame??? For starters, Basketball Jesus would have had to shield his eyes from the brilliance if Portland had drafted Draymond Green instead of Meyers Leonard later in that same 2012 draft. Then in 2013 they took CJ over this year's MVP Giannis. Gobert would have been a much better talent to pair with Lillard as well. I like the potential of Zach Collins, but who wouldn't prefer Donovan Mitchell? Same draft we took Swanigan over Kuzma... just think about how much better the current lineup would be with an athletic forward with a jumper. Pretty much every offseason since Dame was acquired I've been banging my head against the wall that they don't get a SF who can shoot... doesn't management watch how teams defend & eliminate PDX every year in the playoffs?

But yeah, I'd say a passed on core of Dame, Green & Giannis proves you're wrong. Every year would be our turn.

STOMP

Post-trade West rankings?
I say:
1. Clippers
2. Utah
3. Lakers
4. ? Houston? Warriors?

1 Clippers
GS
Utah
Denver
5 PDX

I had us third after the draft. Warriors with a great free agency and LAC are now NBA favorite.

One bright side, if the Lakers have an injury or bad contributions from role players, they could be a borderline playoff team and risk seeing Davis walk for nothing. Oh that would be the best thing outside Blazers winning playoff series.

I have a feeling this partnership was being discussed well before the playoffs. This tweet is from March.

I don't think Lakers are 3 and Utah is getting overrated. I think we have HCA if we stay healthy
Golden state is being underrated, they swept us without Durant and added an all star in his place.

Outside the Clips I can see us having a better season than any team in the west. Clips likely only worse than us with injuries. Sadly looking at it now we could've really used Aminu or Harkless to match up with them. Hood and Collins will get destroyed in that matchup.

So now we have what 7 of top 9 teams in the west again?

Wow Toronto could have gotten Paul George and maybe Westbrook too, but turned it down because of Pascal Siakam,??? I am sure there more to it

Damn that would have been ideal

Can the Knicks?
If they waited until RJ Barrett was tradeable in about 4 weeks I believe they'd still be a few million short of being able to if they included all the players they currently have under contract. It's way closer than the Lakers can get but just doing the math in my head I don't think they get there even if they included RJ, Frank, DSJ, Mitchell Robinson, Daymean Dotson, Knox, and Trier. That is everyone on their team that is even eligible for trades.

The Knicks, like the Lakers, would need to wait until December 15th to pull it off.

They didn't have assurance Kawhi would resign if they do the deal. If Kawhi agrees to sign I bet they do it. Instead they were used by OKC to leverage more picks out of the clippers.

They still didn't have assurance from Kawhi it seemed. They could have done well in the East even without him. Siakam is nice, but he'll not be as good as PG13.

Now the Raps will be a dumping ground for bad contracts and picks coming off a championship. Life comes at you fast I guess.

The problem with GS is that Klay will be out most of the regular season. Curry will have a lot more on his plate and we'll see if he holds up. Green was fairly pedestrian during the regular season last year.

I'm not saying they'll miss the playoffs. They'll be a damn tough team come playoff time if healthy but I don't see them getting home court right now.

Hard to believe that. Kawhi wouldn't give them assurance since he and PG were orchestrating the whole thing?

They will still be celebrating in 40 years ... like the Blazers are celebrating 1977 ... lol HELL kids will still be partying ...

Oh come on - this is WAY better than him going to the Lakers, surely? And OKC gets fucked at the same time? Bonus!

I think this has been very refreshing: The Knicks and the Lakers clear cap room and talk about maybe getting TWO megastars... and then the two prizes go to THE NETS AND THE CLIPPERS! It's pretty sweet!

Watch one or both of LeBron and Davis miss multiple games and the Lakers miss the playoffs.
You don't have a problem with it while also not including Portland in your top-5 in the West. You can't see why that would bother people?

Klay isn't going to be the defender he once was when he returns. The GS era officially ended this summer. I have a feeling they flip Green at some point this season before he's due the max.

Woj said it was an option for Toronto as well.

He said Toronto had the option to trade for George, of course they did as OKC is only shopping for best offer. Woj never said Kawhi would agree to resign in Toronto.

They have more questions than they've had in the last 6 years.

A lot could go wrong and they don't contend. We've also seen Jerry Rice come back from an ACL tear in 3 months and Curry dominate the league in historic fashion, they added Willey Cauley Stein and somehow kept Kevon Looney. So who the hell knows.

I could see them winning the west or not getting HCA.
