It wouldn't matter if Westbrook was there or not...OKC is not a desirable place for NBA players to relocate.
People with options don't choose to live in OKC. Players have options, well except when they're initially drafted. Thats why the PG trade makes sense for them.

Do your sources know if Seattle has built a new Bball arena yet?

He doesn't care. He just wants to get ride of NBA Basketball all together. He prefers to get an NFL Franchise instead.
After letting walk players of the caliber of Serge Ibaka, James Harden, Paul George, Kevin Durant, Oladipo, Sabonis, Carmelo Anthony, ... and many more ... none of them wants to live in the sheet hole called Oklahoma City.

C'mon... Doesn't matter how many years are left. If he wants out he just says he wants out.
With 3 years left, you don't have to do anything. He just signed that contract 1 year ago.

My inclination is that OKC really wanted to rebuild after 3 straight years of 1st round exits. PG13 looks like the bad guy now. They can also trade Russ without too much blow back either.

I need help understanding how:
1. How can the Clippers fit all those talents under their cap? Isn't PG a Max player? Isn't Kawhi signing for the max? But they also have Beverly, Lou, ...
2. Why did Kawhi sign for 4 years when he could do 2 years then be eligible for the super max?
What Am I missing?
Kawhi isn't eligible for the Super Max because he is no longer with his original team. Same with Anthony Davis.

Beverly makes about $13 million. Harkless about $11. Harrell is at $6 million. Lou is at $8 million. All the rest of the contracts on their roster are cheap rookie deals since Gallinari is part of the trade.

I don't want Westbrook anywhere near LeBron and AD. I'm of the belief that it would actually work.

OKC re-signed George, then got 5 unprotected first, 2 swaps and a promising rookie out of him. Not too bad I would say

it's 4 unprotected pick and a protected one

it's a lot but consider what it may very well look like after 7 years:

2020: 27th-30th pick
2021 (Miami): 19th -22nd pick (maybe lower because Pat Riley is pretty good too, similar to Jerry West)
2022: 27th-30th pick
2023: no swap because Clips are better team
2024: 27th-30th pick
2025: no swap because Clips are better team
2026: protected

yeah, it's a haul of picks but just about all of them will likely be really late in the draft...in the part of the draft when last time Portland was there they got Caleb Swanigan. The only chance for a high pick is if Miami falls apart in the next 18 months of if the Clips are done 7 years from now, but then that's the protected pick

I will say, like you, I was pretty impressed with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and OKC got him as part of this deal

Paul George now falls directly into the asshole category in my book....after our playoff series I found out what a jerk the guy is....don't think he's helping that locker room in LA much...wait until he bangs Lou Williams wife or some shit....we kicked Paul George's ass before..we can do it again..and Kawhi to me is just building some nasty karma in the basketball world....win a championship and bail....classless move in my book.....fuck the Clippers and the Lakers!

All those picks look impressive, but they come with 2 important caveats.

First, the team receiving the picks has to have a FO that is skilled at player evaluation and team building.

Second, the team has to be able to retain any quality players they find.

IMHO - OKC is boned!

While I don't really like what Leonard did, he was within his rights as a UFA. George (and Davis) can pound sand. I wish them nothing but the worst.

I kind of do, but as a Blazer fan it kind of makes me excited for the season should be crazy competitive.
Players gotta play.

Blazers just need to rise to the challenge and focus on the prize.

Got no time for this defeatist attitude all up in here.

Blazers gonna get it done.

Kawhi won Toronto a championship. He wanted to go home. And he didn't pick the easy way out by signing with the Lakers.

It would be a little tough as a Raptors fan, but they just fucking won!

I'd take that any day of the week.

This makes Kawhi more of a legend imo. Make the clippers the better LA team please.

I don't really agree with any of this but I love this post LOL

Portland has done everything right since drafting Dame??? For starters, Basketball Jesus would have had to shield his eyes from the brilliance if Portland had drafted Draymond Green instead of Meyers Leonard later in that same 2012 draft. Then in 2013 they took CJ over this year's MVP Giannis. Gobert would have been a much better talent to pair with Lillard as well. I like the potential of Zach Collins, but who wouldn't prefer Donovan Mitchell? Same draft we took Swanigan over Kuzma... just think about how much better the current lineup would be with an athletic forward with a jumper. Pretty much every offseason since Dame was acquired I've been banging my head against the wall that they don't get a SF who can shoot... doesn't management watch how teams defend & eliminate PDX every year in the playoffs?

But yeah, I'd say a passed on core of Dame, Green & Giannis proves you're wrong. Every year would be our turn.

....well, when you put it like that.....

Yeah, we suck at drafting. Not sure what I was thinking. Fuck Olshey and his John Gotti haircut.

Yeah, we suck at drafting.
Well now I have to argue the other side

When it comes to drafting, PDX has been better then most. Michael Kidd Gilchrist, Dion Waiters & Thomas Robinson were selected ahead of Lillard in the 2012 draft. While Golden State struck gold with Draymond, they'd already passed on him twice in selecting Harrison Barnes and Festus Ezeli. In 2013 Portland used the 10th pick to select CJ passing on All NBA Bigs Giannis & Gobert, but Anthony Bennett went #1 overall. The only guy drafted in front of CJ who is even arguably a better talent is Otto Porter. And while it might be a little early to be passing judgement on players from the 2017 draft that brought the Blazers Zach Collins at #10, if they redid it today I doubt he'd slide past #5.

They've been more hit then miss, but the point is that the potential for putting together a truly great team via the draft has been there.

Isn't there a story between PG13 and the Rivers family or is it the Curry family? Some story related to him dating Doc's daughter ... maybe?

So WAS can spend 90M a year over the next 4 for RW and Wall? Yikes.
I would trade Russ for John Wall ... straight up.
But, I can see Pat Riley figuring out ways to get Russ. If Jerry West can do it, why can't Pat?

No way Collins goes at 5. He probably stays at 10. Maybe anywhere from 9 to 12.

Kuzma, john collins, de'aaron fox, jayson tatum, donovon mitchell off the top of my head easily get drafted before him.

Paul George still had 3 years left on his deal. How was he in a position to demand a trade?
I think Leonard demanded the Clippers make it happen or he wouldn't sign with them... OKC wasn't going anywhere so why would they turn down that deal?
