I guess City of Portland is suing Uber.

Sign the petition. Uber is fucking great, especially if you live in Portland itself. No more having to drive to go to dinner, etc. Just take an uber.

I think there might be criminals outside, better stay inside where it's safe.

How do I use uber? Do I dial 1-800-RAPIST?

stand on a street corner near a traffic light. When a car stops at the light, get in.

Über is anti Union and very libertarian. Government isn't collecting for taxi medallions also. The barrier to entry is a car, a map, and a cell phone.

How sweet it is!

Is your code still good? Thinking about using Uber tonight.

They pulled out of Portland on Friday for 3 months while the city tries to revise its code.

The promo code works, if you're in the burbs though.

The pullout doesn't go in effect until Sunday.

Its become so ingrained in the culture here in SF that its jarring when I'm outside the area and find out that Uber isn't available. It really is a great example of a new technology totally and utterly kicking the living shit out of the existing model. There is literally zero advantage to taking a taxi, its a worse all around experience and product.

I'm not a female so perhaps my perspective is different, but I'm more sketched out by taxi drivers than anyone who's ever Uber'd me anywhere. The cab drivers are still randos and they're often standoffish/rude/weird. Uber drivers are generally more friendly, they have an incentive to provide a pleasant experience, they almost always offer you water or sunglasses and shit like that, and they're just flat out way more convenient and reliable.

One of the drivers I had last night offered us water and Christmas candy. It was cool.

UBER is back in Portland.

My code UBERPARTYONBRO is still good. $20 credit on your first ride.

OH SNAP SON. LYFT IN THE HOUSE TOO.

Promo code: ERIC377974 (also $20 dolla).

I'm using UBER POOL in LA lately. Its fucking amazing. I can get anywhere on my side of town for $5. Anywhere on the other side of town for $15. Its just a carpool. Fucking amazing.
