Better option than Stotts?
not surprised, Monty was always just a rebuild coach for them. Now that they ware looking ready to take the next step, its time to bring in the big guns.

Who are the big guns these days? A college coach or a TNT analyst?

Scott Brooks?
Monty should find a job somewhere easily. Maybe not head coaching, but definitely assistant. I suspect the Pels got their eye on a certain coach to bring in.
Maybe Monty's old boss?
Seriously, that is an organization that is always strapped for cash. They almost left NO a few years ago, but needed a tax payer backed bond measure to keep the team in NO. What "big name" are they going to be able to attract and afford?

Coaching in the west, that's a tougher job than the eastern conference. Pelicans would have competed if they weren't in the west.Davis, Asik, and Jrue Holiday are all above average defenders. Any time you can have a PF/C combo of Davis and Asik, and be in the bottom 3rd defensively in the league, I think says something about the scheme they're running there. Seems like a decent guy, but don't think he's a great head coach.

They still had a pretty bad defense for having good defenders on the roster.Coaching in the west, that's a tougher job than the eastern conference. Pelicans would have competed if they weren't in the west.
Got to agree that he's being blamed for the front-office failings. They made at least two very bad trades - dumping RoLo so they could acquire Tyreke Evans, and getting Jrue "always injured" Holiday for the pick that became Nerlens Noel. Presumably this is all with an eye to locking up Anthony Davis (as basically NOTHING else matters for the Pelicans) so perhaps they didn't see eye to eye.
Incorrect. You are thinking of George Shin the previous owner who was a cheapskate. The current owner also owns the NFL Saints and has plenty of money. He is old as dirt, very impatient, wants to win now, and doesn't mind spending money to do it.
Agree 100%, I would welcome it.I wouldn't mind him coming back as an assistant.
Dell wants to space the floor, play small, and get plenty of ball and player movement, while Monty has a more conventional, old-school approach to the game. Dell filled out the rosters with his type of players, but Monty did not utilize them in the way Dell envisioned, so Dell got guys like Asik to fit into Monty’s scheme.
