Pelicans pick watch

We're not going to have to try and lose anything. The Kings got a lot better and will pass both us and the Pelicans in my estimation. The Lakers are going to get a lot better in the buyout market because they're the Lakers and we just made the Clippers a lot better so I think the play ins in the west will be Wolves, Clippers, Lakers, Kings.

I know we just beat a very dysfunctional Lakers team but make no mistake about it we are a worse team than the team that just lost 6 straight before that game. The 2-8 record we've had in our last 10 is about right going forward... maybe we'll do a little better because of strength of schedule but not much. A lot of post game press conferences with Chauncey talking about how we played the right way and he likes the direction we're headed in after losses.

That's probably true. However, Josh Hart has yet to play for the Trail Blazers, and there is a WIDE gap between him and CJ Elleby. We should also expect the Blazers to get better the more they play together. Not saying that will translate into wins, but I am saying the team should definitely be better from here on out.

no more MeJ on the court will definitely contribute to a better Brand of Team Basketball and maybe a few more unexpected wins

Wow! San Antonio won tonight in Atlanta. They are now only 1 game behind Portland and New Orleans in the win column. I didn't even think to watch that game.
Tomorrow, the Spurs host the Pelicans! Go Spurs!
Also tomorrow, the Kings will be in Washington to play the Wizards. Go Kings, better than ever with Sabonis!

If New Orleans loses in San Antonio, and Portland beats the Knicks in Portland, Portland will knock New Orleans out of the play-in (for now).

EDIT: The Spurs play the Pelicans in New Orleans, not San Antonio, tomorrow.

San Antonio, Sac and Indy will win at a higher clip than us and the Pelicans. All of those teams improved just now. I know it seems that the Spurs lost a lead guard in White but the Spurs already have Murray so the acquiring of Richardson gives them a contributor on both ends of the floor and the clarification of Murray as the lead guard instead of White in addition to Richardson's skill set that makes them better... IMO. I think we'll duck under them and as long as Zion's and Larry's absences coincide for long enough the Pelicans will continue to sink in the standings too. Let's just hope they don't get lucky in the draft lottery.

CJ had 36 and 11 and they still lost. That is concerning. They have a tough schedule and I can totally see them going on a dive and getting that 4 pick. We need to do our part and take L’s too. The young guys need to quit playing so well and understand the assignment

Cap question -

Say we land number 7 and 10. Can we resign Ant/Nurk and package 7/TPE(20 mil) for a player that fits that exception and package 11/Bledsoe for another player that fits under his 18 mil salary plus have the full MLE?

Clips are 0-3 with Powell

at first, i was worried the Pelicans could make the playoffs, now i'm worried they lose so many games that they end up with a top 4 pick, given the fact that they have the 7th hardest schedule. We need to lose again

Tough schedule, all of those teams are better than the Clippers team they're putting on the floor. They did win tonight against Dallas without Norm but losing to Milwaukee, Memphis and Dallas just makes sense. They'll stay solidly in that 7 or 8 spot in the west and after the buyout season the Lakers will start playing better too and they'll lock up that other spot 7 or 8.

Clippers traded for Norm and potentiakly Roco for next year. Sure, they will use them to try to get to the playoffs but with their two superstars out, I doubt they think they are contenders.

Blazer fans are so funny.

Yes...absent winning the lottery, that would probably be the best-case off-season scenario.

LMAO

Best scenario is Pelicans lose and don't get top 4
2nd best scenario is Pelicans win and don't get top 4
Worst scenario is Pelicans lose and get top 4, or win and get top 4, or win and then win playin

If you prefer high risk high reward you may want to root for them to lose. Or if you prefer low risk root for them to win some, although not enough for the playoffs.

Unless AD comes back and helps the Lakers, it looks like our pick will come down to the Clippers/TWolves vs. Pelicans in the 2nd play-in game.

Tony Snell looks like an all-star tonight, we had to give them Nance too? We ain’t gettin that pick.

We had better be rooting for the Lakers...

I'm more annoyed that our GM couldn't neogtiate more favorable protections for that pick. 2022 #5-14 or reverts to a 2025 pick from Milwaukee? Pathetic. We couldn't throw in a clause to say if the Pels pick doesnt convey, we got the Lakers pick?

There is a real scenario where the Bulls might get more from us for Nance than we will get for CJ.

Idiot Cronin. ...
