out for the season.

We’ve heard from a reliable source that power forward Jeff Pendergraph, the 31st pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, will have hip surgery this week and is expected to be out for the majority of the 2009-10 season. Pendergraph is said to have injured his hip participating in NBA assistant coach Tim Grgurich’s summer camp in Las Vegas this past August. The Blazers have neither confirmed nor denied this story. The team has yet to sign Pendergraph to a rookie contract.

Since he hasn't signed a contract yet, I wonder if the Blazers do the surgery and take care of all costs? I know they have his draft rights, but are they obligated to pay for everything?

I think it would depend on if they sent him to Grgurich’s summer camp or if he went on his own.

I would think that they would pay for it. You wouldn't want even a 2nd round draft pick going down to Mexico for cheap health care.

I wonder what's wrong, I hope it isn't similar to what happen to Bo Jackson. That was such a freaky injury.

I feel badly for JP and hope/think the Blazers will take care of the medical stuff.

That said, who else is waiting for DeJuan Blair's no-ACL knees to explode? Brockman's still not under contract with Sactown...

Well, that opens the back up position for Cunningham. I don't know, does Dante makes us anymore tougher than Frye made us?

As long as Cunningham doesn't fall in love with the 3 ball he'll be an upgrade over Frye.

Why you gotta' crack on the Motherland?

No crack, just fact.

Also you said before you don't even read my posts because I haven't posted here much. Please, don't start now. :biglaugh:

Oh, that's right rookie. Nevermind, I don't even know what you are talking about.

Sly is an O-Live legend, hombre. Don't EVEN try to match wits with this cat. He'll run circles around your a.........................

Makes signing Juwan Howard or Stromile Swift more reasonable. Not that Jeff was a critical piece to our season, but we have to have SOME bodies at the 4 for fouls/injuries.

I'm new to all this....... is being an O-Live Legend like being the best player on the worst team?

Or, like having a tricked out Hyundai?

Or a really pretty FAT girlfriend?

He was a legend long before all the L*kers riff-raff began to trickle in (somewhere around the 2000 WFC debacle).....which, in fact, precipitated the O-Live quasi-meltdown.

Sad news. I was hoping he could make a contribution this year. I hope the team signs him though. That would be messed up if he got hurt and they let him go.

While I feel bad for Pendergraph and wanted to see him play, this should make KP address the back-up PF position. Either Swift or Howard would work for me, although I'd like to see Howard since he's seen about everything between college and the NBA.

but do you think we should still sign him and put him on the IR?

So two of our three draft choices injure themselves within a couple of months of the draft?
Cunningham better be careful.

barfo

Means nothing to me. This is MY house and it's 2009 baby!

So are you his manger or just give him lap dances?

Don't forget Claver, who was apparently drafted injured.

That sucks. I was excited to have him on board this season, he seems like a guy with a lot to prove out there that would be eager to do the dirty work. I hope he comes back strong.
