The Yankees may try to move Beltran to an AL Team looking for a DH. Also mentioned was a need for a 2nd baseman. Beltran was overall best hitter from May forward even though shaky in the field. No mention of Refsnyder in this mix. Also mentioned was that the Yankees would probably have to eat some of Beltrans salary. With Cashman in there I'm wondering how this scenario goes down if in fact it does.

I'd like to see Refsnyder get a fair shot but it wouldn't surprise me is Cashman goes after someone like Zobrist.

Remember boys & girls, you heard it here first.

I don't get it, what do the Yanx have against Ref...??? But, I would like to see Beltran go, even tho' he had the hottest batting avg., of all Yanx.

I never cared for the Beltran signing to begin with....!!

Indeed, I did "hear it here first"..... from Rick's Crystal Ball, btw- Rick My Crystal ball got cracked. I made the mistake of going to Anaheim to see the Yanx on the road, and wound up throwing it at Drew.......!

Murti mentioned the Yankees inflexibility in many positions. As I see it the HUGE problem is A-hole. They can't move him, if they could that would make Tex & Bird natural 1st base DH flip floppers. There were 4 listed destination for Beltran, Baltimore, Detroit among them. And I'm in agreement with Refsnyder, as John Lee Hooker once sand "let that boy Boogie Woogie" . Zobrist is a fine player but he's 34 or 35 after the season begins. Again, shaky stuff with Trashman running the show.

...^^^

IMO, your right on the Bullseye, as usual....! :cowboy::cheers:

Order in tbe courtroom 'cause Here come the Judge!

And on days when Murphy is catching....the Yanks can/should potentially have 5 young inexpensive players on the field along with Refsnyder at 2b, Bird on 1b, Judge in RF and toss in Gregorius SS, who was acquired by dealing a minor league product and all of a sudden the Yanks are a much younger team.
I guess we'll just have to tolerate Arod for another year or two as long as he stays healthy and produces better than the large majority of other "full time" DHs as he did in 2015.

Dare I say the plan is beginning to materialize on the field?

Yep, as we all know...the Yanks DO have a farm system and like the other teams....they also can "go with their kids".

Yanks still lagging in developing one or two top notch homegrown SP.
We'll keep an eye on their 2015 first rounder James Kaprielian down the road.

Nah.....it'll be more of the same....Yanks will never make the playoffs as long as Cashman is the GM and the Steinbrenners own the team.

Ain't that right?

Don't listen to 59, he doesn't know what he's talking about. Cashman has a plan & the Stienbrenners will continue there fathers legacy & tradition of giving us the best chances to win as possible. With the team we have now there's no reason why we can't win 110 games next season, breeze through the playoffs and capture WS #28. These so-called Yankee experts on this board just don't get it.

...that damned ever changing plan exposed me again.

...I just hate it when Rick curb stomps me like that...once, just once, I wish he'd agree with something I say.

And forfeit more draft picks after signing free agents, and raise the payroll, trade top prospects .....umm....and get stuck with aging veterans with long term contracts clogging up the team with limited flexibility and options for the manager?

If we want to learn how to talk out of both sides of our mouths, this is the right place.

...getting stuck with aging veterans with long term contracts clogging up the team with limited flexibility and options for the manager is Cashman's MO.

...Rick, please agree with me for once.

What the Yankees have against Refsnyder is "Smoke-up-
their-false-inspiring-asses"........in other words, it's
called superior Yankee confidence.......Like Zobrist
gives them a solid second baseman! HA!

I see Rick is being impossible to work with, still......after all these years.....He can't agree with anyone....~~!!

I'll do my part bashing away if the Yanks do not give Refsnyder every opportunity to at least show them he CAN'T do the job.

I think they will....unless, they somehow land a better more established 2b option from now until opening day. (without getting mugged in exchange).

He has given every indication he can hit in every chance he has gotten, so far. Minors and Yanks.

I welcome all opinions on the following matter:
Where does the buck stop as far as making the final decision coming out of ST whether or not Refsnyder makes the club?
Example- Refsnyder has a mediocre type ST with the bat and also struggles a little bit defensively.
Is it Girardi? Or, should (does) Cashman send the message he wants Ref on the team?

You guys just can't deal with the fact that BLG & I are right & you know it alls are wrong. Oh & before I forget..............................................................................................LOL.

Cashman is one of the worst GM's in sports. He refuses to rebuild. He collects old farts. He can't pull of good trades. How this assclown got a new contract is mind boggling. What the guy should do is trade McCann for everything he can get as far as young talent and go with the kid Sanchez. While he's at it, see what young talent Gardner can bring back before he is ancient and is worth nothing.

^^^ I wouldn't be at all surprised if Gardner is traded...Beltran too...as well as others perhaps.

...but now that his money supply has been trimmed, he'll be forced to rely on his nonexistent shrewdness in order to get something of value in return...so I wouldn't count on it.

Sanchez was 19 yrs old and had attitude issues, was struggling defensively when the Yanks signed McCann. And I believe "most" didn't have a problem with the McCann signing a couple of years ago.

Sanchez could very well soon be traded in a package.....I would lean towards NOT trading him depending on the proposed deal, of course. Yanks do have another catcher (19 yr old) prospect in Torrens.
Sanchez looks like the real thing as a hitting prospect - did well at AAA and is having a very good season in the AZ fall league.

Could be the Yanks missed the boat with Sanchez by not trying to convert him to another position. He can hit, and with power.
I wouldn't be eager to trade him but....just hope the Yanks get a good return if they do.

Rick is citing "the plan" again? Rick I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt, perhaps you live in an alternate dimension where Cashman is a good GM. Which NYC do you see from where you are?

You've probably forgotten more baseball than anyone on this board will ever know, you tell them.:notworthy2::headbang:

So what's it going to be?
Where do we stand going forward with the team?
Yanks made a big splash prior to the 2014 season by signing Ellsbury, McCann and Beltran.

Ellsbury- too much money for too long. Fair enough?
Maybe some of us agree he is a good established player/CF and fit in a position the Yanks needed to fill. Fair enough?
In hindsight - the Yanks should've offered only 4-5 years at 15 or so mil?
Then, IMO, he would've signed elsewhere. So be it.

Don't recall what the general consensus was at the time regarding the contract, AND whether or not he was a sufficient addition to the team and CF. But I guess we could look it up if we had to.

McCann- Pretty much same as above but I think I recall this signing being received fairly well by the board. I could be wrong.

Beltran - we can file this deal under "not good- bad"
Fair enough? There is one year left and maybe a future trade.
If I recall, it was between he and Grandy.
Yanks didn't want to go four years with Grandy and gave Beltran three yrs, both at 15 mil per.
I didn't have a problem with them settling instead on Beltran based on him being a switch hitter to help balance out the lineup AND his previous two seasons with St Louis,
24/84, .296/.339/.491
32/97, .266/.346/.495
He has 2016 left on his contract with the possibility of the Yanks trading him for other value. Grandy has two yrs (30 mil) left.
As of now, RF looks wide open for 2017 and with the possibility of Judge and/or Heathcott taking over for 2016. Fair enough? Is this all "true"?

Don't recall what the consensus was on this board at the time regarding these signings....(Ells,McCann,Beltran)....
....but nobody appreciates a Monday morn QB who sings a different song and takes potshots after the fact when things aren't going well.

One last thing - just so we can get a better handle on "things" for now:
There is a real possiblity in 2016 where the Yanks (pre-determined) can start anywhere from 4 to 6 young inexpensive players:
Refsnyder, Bird, Gregorius, Heathcott (Judge? Williams?) and Murphy.
Make it six when Severino pitches.
All but one (Gregorius) of the players are homegrown while Gregorius was acquired by trading a minor league product.
Not so bad.....is it?

Maybe there are a couple/few things we can agree on.....?????
...maybe NOBODY is wrong all the time?
...maybe NOBODY is "right" all the time?
