You've probably forgotten more baseball than anyone on this board will ever know, you tell them.

So what's it going to be?
Where do we stand going forward with the team?
Yanks made a big splash prior to the 2014 season by signing Ellsbury, McCann and Beltran.
Ellsbury- too much money for too long. Fair enough?
Maybe some of us agree he is a good established player/CF and fit in a position the Yanks needed to fill. Fair enough?
In hindsight - the Yanks should've offered only 4-5 years at 15 or so mil?
Then, IMO, he would've signed elsewhere. So be it.
Don't recall what the general consensus was at the time regarding the contract,
AND whether or not he was a sufficient addition to the team and CF. But I guess we could look it up if we had to.
McCann- Pretty much same as above but I think I recall this signing being received fairly well by the board. I could be wrong.
Beltran - we can file this deal under "not good- bad"
Fair enough? There is one year left and maybe a future trade.
If I recall, it was between he and Grandy.
Yanks didn't want to go four years with Grandy and gave Beltran three yrs, both at 15 mil per.
I didn't have a problem with them settling instead on Beltran based on him being a switch hitter to help balance out the lineup AND his previous two seasons with St Louis,
24/84, .296/.339/.491
32/97, .266/.346/.495
He has 2016 left on his contract with the possibility of the Yanks trading him for other value. Grandy has two yrs (30 mil) left.
As of now, RF looks wide open for 2017 and with the possibility of Judge and/or Heathcott taking over for 2016. Fair enough? Is this all "true"?
Don't recall what the consensus was on this board at the time regarding these signings....(Ells,McCann,Beltran)....
....but nobody appreciates a Monday morn QB who sings a different song and takes potshots after the fact when things aren't going well.
One last thing - just so we can get a better handle on "things" for now:
There is a real possiblity in 2016 where the Yanks (pre-determined) can start anywhere from 4 to 6 young inexpensive players:
Refsnyder, Bird, Gregorius, Heathcott (Judge? Williams?) and Murphy.
Make it six when Severino pitches.
All but one (Gregorius) of the players are homegrown while Gregorius was acquired by trading a minor league product.
Not so bad.....is it?
Maybe there are a couple/few things we can agree on.....?????
...maybe NOBODY is wrong all the time?
...maybe NOBODY is "right" all the time?
