We had $52m/5 years on the table.

A similar player to Hedo is out there and I think 52/5 could be too rich for his current teams blood:

Lamar Odom

Put your Blazer pride aside and think outside the box a little. Yes, he got into it with LaMarcus, blah blah blah, but the guy can play.

odom would be awesome if he could keep his head straight, best example of under utilized talent in the league.

but could u imagine Mike Rice trying to keep Oden and Odom straight?

I would be ok with Odom, it would be much more fun to beat the Lakers with some of their own pieces. If I was KP I would ask LMA if he was cool with Odom on the team. Sometimes guys fight cause of competition and sometimes they fight cause one or both of them is a total ass.

I like Odom. I think he's a better version of Turkoglu. Also a 3/4 with excellent passing skills, but a significantly better rebounder and defender. Plus, he's a year younger.

I am A-okay with this idea, and I definitely believe he should be the next guy to get an offer. (We can wait on offering Sessions something until 30 seconds before the deadline for the Bucks to match...)

BUT:
1. He almost certainly won't come.
2. If he did, would he start on the bench or out of position at SF?

Can he run the pick and roll?

I don't know. I don't think he's ever played with a big man to run the pick & roll with. Bynum is the best big man he's played with and Phil Jackson doesn't use the pick & roll. Odom has been a very good passer in the triangle.

L.A. is playing (or was) hardball with Lamar and Ariza, would they be open to matching a $52m contract?

I just don't think we can get Odom. LA would match. Maybe we should go after Milsap. We could always trade him later for value and it would keep the Jazz from retaining him. At least it would drive up the price for OK city.

Odumb has characteristically took games/seasons off after receiving extensions. I don't trust him.

Hinrich Prince Battier and yes, Harris are some options I think we have. i just wrote a huge whole piece...but really FUCK HEDO

I think we're past "Plan B".

I suppose there is the possibility of stealing Artest from the Lakers. :dunno:

I think the next plan may be to make an unbalanced trade where we get a bad contract.

:banghead: <---- KP right now

:snort: <----- KP later tonight

:pickme: <---- KP on Monday and Tuesday

:onthephone::sick: <---- KP on Wednesday, when all of our competitors are inking big time free agents or holding their press conferences

:smiley-predaja: <---- KP on Friday, when he realizes free agents will basically just play us to get better offers

Toronto is going to have to renounce Marion to sign Hedo. Marion is a much better defender and wouldn't demand as much money. Get it done KP.

Marion is such a fucking cancer it's not even funny. There's a reason he's been on 3 teams in the last 3 years.

Meh. Marion isn't the player he used to be.

I wonder if he still check his stats at half-time like he did in Phoenix?

I'm actually fine with not upgrading what we have. We have a good core, use what we have and get more experience and play smarter.

Sign some backup PFs. I don't really think we need that much of an upgrade at the point...unless Harris or CP3 become available somehow.

For what the Blazers need, Odom would be a much better fit, IMHO.

A few observations of why:

Odom has better shot selection and nearly 10% better fg%
Much stronger rebounder/banger
Style of defense is what the Blazers need
Lots of double/doubles - well rounded

Yes, he has a few areas of improvement and concern - but he would be a lot better compliment to the Blazer team than Hedo.

Fuck Marion.

Odom would be a good choice, but he's a Queensbridge guy just like Artest and LA can't afford to let him walk.

I'd like Ramon Sessions, but I get the distinct impression Milwaukee will probably drag their feet on deciding whether or not to match which ties up your available cap room for the duration, leaving you high and dry if they finally retain him

At this point I think It's gotta be Andre Miller for about 7 million a year for at least 3 years and possibly a backup 4 acquired through trade or the remainder of the cap room. I don't see many other free agents out there that are going to be all that attainable or desirable

Odom > Hedo but I still don't think he would be a good fit here. He's very inconsistent, disappears at times and doesn't contribute. I just don't think he's a complete player.

Plan B.

You don't have to sign a free agent, you know.

With $9M in cap space, KP could trade a future 2nd for a guy with a $9M salary. Look at the salaries on S2 or wherever to see who might fit.

Of course the other team has to want to get rid of such a player.

I don't think signing him is a possibility anyway. You can't offer him significantly more than the MLE and Milwaukee cleared the salary space to match that. I think it is 100% that they will.

My interest would be in talking to Milwaukee about a sign-and-trade. I'd give up Bayless or Rudy to acquire him. Outlaw also. Since they did draft Brandon Jennings, they may be willing to deal Sessions if they got some value back.
