Plausible CJ trades that don't involve the Sixers?

We take horrible contracts but are rewarded with a couple of picks and Quickley. What would be great is if we bought out Walker - he'd've been bought out by two teams at once!

I think Philly might be willing to trade Ben for Kyrie.

CJ -> Nets
Kyrie -> 76ers
Ben -> Portland

We at least need to get expiring contracts for him. The team owes him 100M so you can't buy him out it makes no financial sense. The fact is I think he could be moved and we could actually even get value back for him. Olshey just needs to put him on the block and get what we can for him but Olshey thinks he's an uncrowned all star and so we're fucked. Again though buying him out is not an option and it's also very very unlikely that it's necessary.

I didn't actually mean it. I wanted basically to say i don't care to get a player back.
 
Atlanta's biggest issue last year, and at time this season, was shot creation. Would they be willing to include Jalen Johnson and Cam Reddish alongside Gallinari's horrible contract in exchange for CJ?

I know the Celtics want to address their PG situation, and although CJ isnt a real PG, he fits the mold the Celtics have liked over the past few years (and failed with, though). Don't see what they could give up and what would be realistic. We aint getting Jaylen Brown.

Dallas would love CJ but have nothing of value to offer. Ditto for Denver. Ditto for Lakers. Ditto for Bucks. Ditto for Clippers, although I like Boston, Johnson and Scrubb if you'd go into full rebuild. But you don't want to have anything to do with those vets. Memphis would probably have to ship too many pieces to make it work, and they have a much cheaper, but probably just as valuable player in Desmond Bane. Knicks have nothing to offer and Thibs wouldnt like CJ.

Indiana could offer Myles Turner and TJ Warren, who's done as an impact player (was he ever, outside of the bubble?) or Myles and Lamb. I think getting Myles would allow us to flip Nurk as well - I wouldn't play them together.

NOP is a mess - I'd probably call them first and see if they'd be willing to part with Brandon Ingram. He'd be a nice fit. When they're allowed to trade Hart, I'd be interested in including RoCo in the deal as well, so Hart comes back our way.

Orlando has a lot of nice, young pieeces. Not sure if CJ fits their plans. Its a shame Isaac is an anti vaxxer and horribly injury prone.

Sixers are obvious. Toronto probably could offer Siakam, with Barnes and OG looking like the future. I'd much rather have OG, obviously. Raps also just re-signed Trent.

Kings have enough talent at G as is.

Not too many options.
 
We definitely missed the boat on trading high on CJ. At this point, we might as well get whatever dreck we can for him. No sense holding on to him just because of the sunk cost.

CJ is the kind of player that needs to be traded 2 or 3 times so he can be played (and paid) at his true value. Basically a Zach Randolph or Carmello kind of scenario.

The sad thing is there was a time when Dame would be out and he'd play the starting point guard position and not just chuck shots. He was actually pretty good at it. I think he just has too much muscle memory as a scoring guard to every be that guy again.

Here is kind of a wild one. It's one the Knicks would not have made last year, and the reasons they might do it now also would make it a very risky trade for Blazers.

It's CJ, Nurk and Roco for Randle, Fournier, Noel and Walker. (We just take Walker to help balance the trade, he is not in their rotation and has a two year contract.) Randle's stats are down substantially across the board (except rebounding) and he has five year contract. Noel stats way down, probably due to a knee injury; he is playing lately so hopefully injury not an issue now. Fournier also down some, still shooting almost .400 on threes, taller than CJ of course but not much of a defender. This would be kind of a shake-it-up trade for both teams. Would have to wait to early February due to Randle trade status.

Even if they were, the Nets would just keep Simmons for themselves...he's an ideal fit next to Harden and Durant, as someone who doesn't need a ton of shots, fires up their fast break and helps upgrade their defense.

Sure, but this wasn't about CJ. It was about Irving, who's a much better player, much better regarded (as a player, that is) and would allow Morey to say he got the star he was looking for.

I agree he's never going to take CJ as the centerpiece.
 
Calling Morey with a CJ & picks deal is worth a try. No one is going to give shit up for Simmons now. Maybe a new team will rejuvenate CJ. Cause he's lost here.

What does "Covid times" have to do with it? Kyrie not getting vaccinated makes him ineligible to play in New York (as a Knick or Net), but not in Philadelphia.

I agree he's a nutcase, but he always has been--that doesn't mean he's not viewed as a valuable basketball player.

Valuable as long as he doesn't have a birthday party, or political candidtate to support, or vision quest to pursue, and so on and so on.......

Reality check.

Any talk of trading CJ, RoCo, etc involves certain assumptions regarding our interim GM. Does anyone here really believe that Olshey was the type of manager who tolerates competent subordinates? IMHO, if the guy had shown any brains or initiative Olshey would have seen him as a threat and run him off.
 
No idea what i m doing here, but I think this makes us better lol

Lillard/Powell/DFS/Sabonis/Kleber is a balanced starting 5 in my opinion. It's not a contender, but it can play much better defense. Nurkic is better than Kleber, but Kleber is a better fit next to Sabonis as he is a very good shooter. DFS can be our defensive stopper in the perimeter. A player with size and mobility.

Why Mavs do it? They downgrade at SF, but they have trying to find a starting C for ages and maybe they like Nurk in that role. They like Europeans as well :breakdance:
Why Pacers do it? Yeah that's the tricky part because Sabonis is better, younger and in a more team friendly contract but their team's chemistry is a shitshow and LeVert is not playing well so they might try shake things up and bring him off the bench and start CJ. If it was last year's RoCo would be an easy sell, but he has been a disappointment this year so yeah maybe they ll ask a pick as well.
